  • ice spice's album was trash, her body changed which was part of her appeal to a lot of people, and her personality kinda changed which people saw as part of her appeal

its a miracle offset is still popping with how much he f***ed his image but hes doing well

lil baby's music to many people just got very stale, and he dropped a bad album and bad singles right after his peak, he still has a good core fanbase and is selling though but his sound got very oversaturated by now

dababy got very stale, he ruined his image, and he had a bad controversy

I mean you can have super successful moments followed by absolute fails

I said Lil Baby is still doing fine numbers wise, Just a bit of a decline from his current peak so far

OP is basically asking why hip hop fans lost interest and don’t really care about these artists anymore

Also dababy went from having hits and doing 100k+ fw to like 5k. He’s always gonna have a small fan base but most people ain’t checking for him like that anymore

I feel that, but when I look at 60M unique views in a year on buddy’s YouTube, it’s kinda makes me question if this person really isn’t liked by fans or if that’s just the loudest opinion that still is there but isn’t true anymore

Also we gotta get out of this chokehold billboard has on us for determining success. They significantly nerf YouTube numbers

  • Unforgivable

Never knew why people put high expectations on Lil Baby of all rappers

because my turn is a classic

  • shiit offset had some hits last year he doing well

White people with labels and brands and money can do a lot more than you think

    “Unique views”….

Yet we asking this question why fans turned on them.

What the hell does unique views mean?

And why did they make a word for it and swear by it do you think?

He dropped new videos and those videos accounted for 60M views

Unique views in this case would be views on new videos.

You drop 60M views worth of videos and let a nigga tell you that you not successful I’m just tryna make it make sense lol

  • Respect to Offset

    He a legend

F*** these other plants they never brought anything to the culture, that’s why they fell off.

The loudest opinion becomes true when their sales and relevance actually decline following it

Dababy was on top, The general consensus became “this guys getting boring and repetitive” then he made a bunch of dumb comments, continued releasing the same repetitive stuff and people said yeah we good

His sales and relevance directly reflect that

Ah, I figured it was a cop out to cover up purchased/bot views

Still tho yeah if them view to comments ratio match up then s*** I couldn’t answer that

But I haven’t heard anyone in person talk bout these artists since 2022

And also they buying comments now

Idk man I just think it’s easy to identify which artists will have longevity and which won’t. And meme music will never have longevity. They capitalize on that front till they realize they can’t keep up, it’s not art or something that can evolve.

But does his real life motion?

He still sold out shows in the country and overseas

He still accumulated 60M+ views on new music posted to his YouTube yearly

He still dropped a hit with Shake Sumn. He just had a global hit with Davido that was well received by fans overseas and helped him sell out those shows DURING his “cancellation”

    Again, I’m just tryna understand.

So if an artist isn’t selling by billboards standards, they are not successful?

  • If you not leveling up you will sink. Period

How does covered up bots account for real life shows tho? DaBaby has plenty of those posted up and down his IG even during the supposed cancellation

I’m just tryna understand what is the final determinant for success? Because these artists prove otherwise time and time again, just not by billboards standard lol

Artists selling by billboard standards other than a select few aren’t successful, the label that pushed and has connections with Billboard are successful.

The artist money is locked in a safe at the label office.

Hip hop (really all genres kinda) is also weird because you can have very popular artists in the genre who are constantly being discussed but don’t really appeal to a mass audience like that

If Westside Gunn sells 10k fw it doesn’t really matter because he’s constantly brought up and discussed in hip hop conversations

If Dababy sells 10k fw he gets clowned because he’s kinda irrelevant to the actual culture at this point and he’s irrelevant to mass audiences

It all comes down to who your fans are

Yet his whole city, 50 and Gillie/Wallo popped out for his birthday last week in an arena

Don’t let them echo chambers full you, bro is successfully beating the system that tried to cancel him for his stupid comments, we just don’t see it cause they not pushing it

See why not just say “good job black man, keep going” as opposed to “who are these guys? They’re killing hiphop”

Smh whatever. Ya’ll have good day man, it’s too early for this lol. Gym opens in 5 minutes

  • Had to rely on 50 to pop out and who you think bought 50’s appearance?

I’ll give you a hint, rhymes w Microscope

I’m not sure what you aren’t seeing here

I said it comes down to who your core fans are. The culture has moved on from him. Nobody talks about him, He isn’t brought up in discussions like that anymore

You can still be successful, Sell merch, shows etc.

He’s just not taken seriously anymore. You could even have a similar convo about someone like NF lol. He’s very successful, Has popular songs and albums that sold well but nobody brings him up because he ain’t part of this s***. The only difference with him is he never was, Dababy just kinda got kicked out

  • It’s all love but it’s a lot to your question

It’s a shift occurring, people want change

    The industry is evil

There’s a high demand for new art and real new art, art that lives further than Instagram

You can easily identity artists who will still prevail, and who will absolutely croak if Instagram dies.

  • Like when Animal dropped I loved DaBaby.

    Then I just got bored.

I just went back to Animal lol fr it’s respect but I’m just coming clean w my opinion
