I think at this point, it’s fair to say the album did not deliver at all. But what was it that made it miss the mark? Trying to recapture the 2017 nostalgia attached to Vol. 1? The album being too samey? Some of the features phoning it in?
Biggest disappointment so far of 2022 tbh.
The first one was lightning in a bottle. Vol 2 had to many label obligated features and the beats weren't all that interesting either.
A true sequel would've had Keem and Clairo on it trading bars
keeping it a stack
1st one was never all that either
but the feats and song structures were a lot more interesting on vol 1
vol 2 has the same formula every song
keeping it a stack
1st one was never all that either
First one had lower lows but it also had some amazing tracks.
Slide, Cash Out, Heatstroke, Rollin, Feels
There’s nothing on Vol. 2 that touches those tracks.

keem x clairo
Another case of the artist tryna recapture the albums moment, which failed really badly.
Also Vol 2 should’ve came the year after Vol 1, not about 5 years down the line
still didn't listen 2 vol 2 cuz them features tbh
Same and I probably will never do it
no frank ocean/future
they carried Vol. 1

I actually just listened to it this morning even though it’s been out a few days because of that.
Feature list was a HUGE downgrade compared to Vol. 1.

There were a few amazing songs but as a complete body of work you're right. Lots of mid on there
keeping it a stack
1st one was never all that either
first four tracks and feels are dope but that’s it

ON GOD IN HEAVEN
never got it, this 2nd one sounds the exact same and everyone is saying its weak

Those type of albums just aren’t it anymore. Khaled would probably struggle too without the gimmicks and pandering to black folk.
Literally the marketing
It was announced and it had hype
Then I heard nothing from it until after it came out
Truth be told I still ain’t heard that s***
It wasn’t fun at all. Terrible feature choices. Also, like 5 flop singles don’t help. I’m still upset I don’t like the Swae Lee song, thought it’d be a guaranteed slap. Volume 1 was able to integrate goddamn Katy Perry into the culture, but Volume 2 does the opposite for its pop features. Just so soulless
Every single song sounds the exact same
Bizarre features
Potion and that song with Swae are cool though
