sometimes i listen to an i feel like dying or an i feel like that all the time and realize they’re some of the greatest artists of our time regardless of genre able to balance the pop bangers with the esoteric with the socially conscious
You might be ignoring the trail.
If you f*** with Nas, Wu, The LOX, Mobb Deep, etc. You'll find a way to get to Griselda or even Action Bronson.
Griselda's original fan base were older rap heads. They didn't tap into a younger market until after they linked up with Eminem.
Older rap fans also gravitate towards Roc and Mach too.
True, ig my point was that lyrical rap is still popular
Crazy lyrical rappers rapping about pyramids and planets and really not making any sense
don't you think you're giving ktt too much credit lmao
raury wasnt actually that big tho and he wore the industry plant shirt which was a thing ktt started
Idk about niggas rapping about the pyramids but the newer underground niggas that bar up still exist.
Hit the Underground Renaissance thread.
If you f*** with Mike, you'll f*** with Mary Sue too.
there’s definitely great rappers i can’t stand it when people say people don’t wanna rap anymore there’s people amazing are barring
what about ab soul
ab soul makes music that’s too enjoyable that i can vibe out to none of the artists in the lane i mentioned can make something this cool
It’s just not cool anymore lol
that s*** was never cool i listened a random canibus song someone sent me in middle school and regretted that experience
Crazy how in 2024 a rapper taking about these topics would be considered right wing as hell
🤣🤣🤣
not debating that but i feel like the opinions and mental stability of those type rappers is under way more of a microscope bc of the implied “intelligence” of the subject matter they hovering around vs nobody flinching when kodak or any of these rappers say some dumb sht. If we got ignorance in the direction of the lovable hood nigga i wouldnt mind ignorance in the direction of the conspiracy theory nigga in the barbershop who grazes against validity every now and then lol. Its kinda what we missing in rap’s mainstream lmao
damn i just realized wasnt kendrick and kodak on some hotep black hebrew raps on kendricks last album? id put that in the pyramid raps umbrella
Crazy how in 2024 a rapper taking about these topics would be considered right wing as hell
not to make this political but i think left and right sways like at one point right wing was liberal and it sways im not sure
sometimes i listen to an i feel like dying or an i feel like that all the time and realize they’re some of the greatest artists of our time regardless of genre able to balance the pop bangers with the esoteric with the socially conscious
99.9% of Wayne's catalog isn't that and that's not the lesson people took from his career
There’s a simple answer. Their production fell way off and as a result nobody cared to listen anymore.
I’m talking about your Jedi Mind Tricks, Pharaoh Monch, Canibus, etc. Crazy lyrical rappers rapping about pyramids and planets and really not making any sense but they could technically rap extremely well. I really can’t name any modern examples of that lane idk what happened
listen to ankhle john
Behold clandestine veracities, pyramidal antiquities
Fabricated sans humanity, by metallic entities
In arid topographies, solar radiation's ferocity
Cybernetic collectivities actualized pharaonic velocities
Sovereign reveries, in binary extremities
Energized these automatons' tireless activities
Photonic emissions for impeccable symmetries
Unobserved by anthropic ocular faculties
Servomechanisms oscillate, gears articulate inaudibly
Elevating megalithic cubes toward celestial infinities
Devoid of perspiration, merely circuitry's electricity
Chronological epochs elapse, they function indefatigably
Titanium appendages, electromagnetic advantages
Position lithic structures with algorithmic exactitudes
Hydraulic phalanges, emancipated from lassitudes
Accomplish monarchical visualizations with certitude
Hieroglyphic engravings or schematic etchings?
Historiographies obfuscate technological reckoning
Nilotic voltaic flux, incomprehensible energetics
Propel their incessant, Herculean kinetics
Ferrous oxidation, arenaceous accumulation
Occlude their genesis across the topographical expanse
Nevertheless, comprehend their architectural culmination
Transcends temporal boundaries, a pyramidal omnipotence

There are a lot of them, you might be just looking in the wrong places
This honestly another whole thread lol but we can do it here
For one i wanna stay on what archtypes you think Ye and Wayne each come from respectively edit: i just saw you said Pac. Crazy how that evolved to what it did for both of them by 07-08. And crazy that Pac’s rap dna so wild it can spawn two completely different artists like that
And right now there are a few main ones that stick out but the main two are street rapper (and there are like 3-4 variations of this lol) and street adjacent hypebeast/lifestyle type trap rappers (Yeat Carti Yachty) but subconsciously isnt implied to be a hands on type dude.
For as much as he is polarizing ian had a somewhat clever take on the second archtype by doing the same thing yachty or carti does (suburban or non street kid toeing the line of rapping eary 2010’s trap type subject matter but not getting too graphic) but its controversial because of the suburban aesthetic. Veeze also spun the street rapper archtype into something thats kind of his own with subtle tweaks
Then theres also the slums earl / billy woods or roc marciano boldy james types
And that’s where it comes to the question of what archetype do the people want to lead the game
sometimes i listen to an i feel like dying or an i feel like that all the time and realize they’re some of the greatest artists of our time regardless of genre able to balance the pop bangers with the esoteric with the socially conscious

Koncept Jackson goes crazy as f*** and his ear for production is unique. He should be way bigger underground
Most of it can be refuted.
Nature of the threat in ‘96 sounds hard until you listen back and realize a lot of what Ras Kass was saying had mad inaccuracies
It's crazy cuz when you hear him narrate the history, he's rapping that s*** with so much conviction until you think back for like 5 seconds on some "wait, huh? Wait a minute, really?"
Also, dude really hates Ru Paul and it shows iykyk
For as much as I miss 2009-2015, Jay Elect on Roc Nation at that time would have had to make a certain type of music to really have a career which probably why it didnt happen lol
Think everything that went wrong with J Cole first album except Jay Elec didnt even have the college kid thing going lol
lmfaooo the last sentence
