Actually I also had combat sambo in mind saw this guy Tsarukyan the other day against Joel Alvarez and pieced him up like a cheesecake, wrestling is absolutely the best base for mixed martial arts
as someone who’s fought amateur and know real pros boxing and wrestling and the two most important things in mma if you’re skilled in both you can dictate the fight. submissions and kicks are extra even though when i train i like throwing kicks more than punches
Every mma sparring we’ve had in my gym the Muay Thai guy had slim to 0 chances against a well rounded kick boxer with a low stance, take 12 to 6 elbows out and they’re just mediocre kung fu guys, no offense tho
It’s just that the Muay Thai stance is too high and doesn’t cover the vital lower organs much like the liver, so yeah a good shot to the liver and a hook would do it in my opinion
Idk about saying they’re mediocre kung fu guys. When you go against the actual practitioners it’s a different game entirely. The western world loves to take mediocre kickboxers and call them Muay Thai fighters but they’re not actual Thai fighters like the ones in Thailand. The level is just different. The stance is bad vs grappling for sure but Thai guys cover their bodies by staying at range and if you do enter they won’t let you enter for free without eating a knee or elbow. I always found body shots easier on Dutch kickboxers who like to shell up. Thai guys that teep a lot and keep range with hard shots i always found tough to find good body shots on.
my instructor taught us that running is always the best defense
Spoke to a few people irl and did research online about the best martial art for self defence and this was always said Funny that all the people who actually know how to fight advise against it unless it's absolutely necessary

Yeah person you’re fighting might have a weapon, and fighting is inherently dangerous so it’s best to avoid it if possible. But if you can’t avoid a fight you wanna be able to win.
Haven’t seen the right answer itt
