Doesn’t checking your credit score lower it by 1 point? :sixcards:
hard inquiries do temporarily, but if you open the credit karma app or some s*** just to see it, it won't

Would be way higher if my dumbass didn't get my first credit card until two years ago
Advice to all you youngins that don't know about credit: get a credit card as young as possible (but DO NOT EVER KEEP A BALANCE, of course. Pay off in full every month). Also, never close a credit card account. If there's an annual fee, just downgrade to a no annual fee card.
It's ridiculous that credit and finances are not taught in a specific class in high school.

Just to clarify this post for those of you that may not know (I didn't a few years ago):
Hard inquiries = applying for credit (cards, car loan, mortgage, etc.). These temporarily affect your credit, but it will bounce back a few months later if you don't miss payments/do anything bad with your credit.
Soft inquiries = checking your own credit. This does not affect your credit score whatsoever.

Could definitely lead to some big time mistakes by those that act without thinking on here
After, taking out a loan of 20K and Financing 2 cars my s*** fell from 725 to 660

Give them a taste of Financial Independence, Retire Early (FiRE) and that'll be enough, they'll figure out the rest if they really want to

As long as you can afford all of that and make payments on time you'll bounce back up pretty rapidly.
That sounds like a huge amount of debt all at once though

Ya the 20k was an emergency purchase, my dad really screwed me there.
parents f***ed mine up but i got it back to 608. took em off the account and replaced the cards. gonna try to dispute some missed payments to see what can be done
Same here, my s*** was f***ed before I even started to care about my score. I've tried disputing on Credit Karma with no luck.

I had somebody older that tried to put me on a while ago but I just wasn't interested.
if ive never had a credit card before whats my credit score?
Sign up for Credit Karma and check it out, you'll have a different score depending on the bureau.
Credit Karma has me at 701, my Chase app says I'm at 702. Used to be around 720 until I had a kid and started having to charge too much s***.
