It's cos his production isn't as complex. Tbh for a lot of people that's what they're listening for. The lyrics then fall into place later.
True but I also think the production on CLB at times is better than all of Donda
I big up Drake way more than I criticize him so foh. All you notice is the criticism that's it.
I see where you coming from g. He sound a lil sonically stale. He need some focus for this s*** at this point. Too much baggage in his career to continue to make essentially the same type of album again and again. He needs a sonic reset.
Lil Wayne and Rick Ross were amazing on CLB. On the contrary Lil Baby, Lil Durk, Travis Scott and Young Thug all disappointed on this album.
Future was pretty damn amazing too. But drizzy and hndrxx always link perfectly
N 2 deep second part is 🕺🏻👌
A lot of vibey songs, some songs kind of meh rn. Overall I feel this will grow on me greatly.
With some more listen if you trim the album into:
1. Champagne Poetry
2. Papi's Home
3. Love All (feat. JAY-Z) Have to add OG outro
4. Fair Trade (feat. Travis Scott)
5. Not Around OG Edited Version, No unnecessary long ass intro or stupid beat switch
6. No Friends In The Industry
7. Knife Talk (feat. 21 Savage & Project Pat)
8. 7AM on Bridle Path
9. Race My Mind
10. Fountain (feat. Tems)
11. Get Along Better Ty ain't even have a verse so I wouldn't put him as a verse.
12. You Only Love Twice (feat. Rick Ross & Lil Wayne)
12. IMY2 (feat. Kid Cudi)
13. The Remorse
... then you got a pretty great album. Definitely more concise. But still why every Drake album you got to edit so much to make into it's best form? Who helping him with this s*** they need to be fired.
Dis cool but i like that not around beat switch. Also n 2 deep second part is amazing 👌 add that and it’s fantastic
Music to grow to
I like the album once you stop being pretentious, listening to new music is such an enjoyable experience. Some of you are the children of white Twitter/YouTube hip hop critics and it shows can’t enjoy anything.
Truth...my second listen I’m really enjoying this s***
Project is amazing my only huge complaint is the mixing
But I still gotta digest this for a couple weeks and I suggest you do the same @op
Love All is dope, although I miss that singing outro from the leak. Jay did his thing and I usually avoid his features.
Fair Trade was the one I was looking forward to the most, and it was great. My favorite so far, but I’m only at W2S
These nigga's smoking something special man. Idk how they don't see it. Like you said this album as so many duds. I still can't believe he wasted a Hov feature on the Need Me record and took out the amazing outro. I was so looking forward to what else he was going to do with the record. And I was looking forward to him and Hov on some lyrical s*** back and forth. This s*** disgusting.
Not gonna lie that Jay feature was ass. I was expecting some back and forth s*** too, lyrically.
There were definitely some misses on the album. He should of left a lot of the features and Luke warm tracks out. Drake’s team should of done better on the song selection.
Overall I think it’s a better album than Scorpion. There’s no excuse Drizzy had 3 years to make this album. I’m sure he’s recorded tons of records that were album cuts that are probably 🔥.
He’s on the upper echelon of hip hop. He really didn’t need to please his casual listeners by including those features.
He’s just one album away from dropping a classic, but it’s always been the song selections that’s been holding him back for dropping a classic.
He need some new ears in that process cuz I feel like most the people that has a say in that process are his boys and are just gonna yes him to death and not really criticize him what track really works and what really doesn’t.
I do see him trying to get out of his comfort zone in a few tracks, but if he’s gonna experiment he should risk it all and go crazy.
Enjoyed it from beginning to end. Some songs might not be strong as others but not one skip imo.
Well, he delivered for me. I left satisfied on first listen. I'm going to live with this for a long time. Im not sure what you mean by lack of energy because, hes actually energized, inspired and matured.

Mid for Drake but a classic compared to Dona or The Off-Season
Way 2 Sexy is the greatest song in his catalog
Cudi ruined the vibe. Hate him
Opposite for me I thought too sexy was mid and that Cudi track was great.

f***ing fans?
Album is fire IMO
My favourite tracks on first listen:
Champagne Poetry
Girls Want Girls
Love All
Fair Trade
TSU
No Friends In The Industry
Knife Talk
7am On Bridle Path
Race My Mind
How was Knife Talk at all concise with the theme? Should’ve named it Pillow Talk and have 21 come with some hoe bars. That would’ve been concise
Facts. That feature and song was ass.

S*** is lowkey harder than Sneakin, see you back in a week

He really didn’t need those features. I agree he should of just kept Rick Ross and Wayne because when they’re on a track together they don’t miss and I like the Cudi track a lot.
