18 months is the move (if the artist can keep up with quality)

  • Jul 6, 2023

Depends on the artist. Some I want 2 albums, a mixtape & 45 leaks per year

all i know is drake been dropping greatness all year round for the last 3 years while uzi fans had to wait 3 years for some mindless trash that came and went the day of release

  • If it's a great album I'm fine with 3 years. I prefer when I'm able to see a tour stop and a festival stop of the album if it's one I really love, and it's hard to do that when there's smaller breaks than that

I like to get as much music from my favorite artists as possible so long as it doesn't have a direct effect on the quality of the music. I've never really bought that any artist needs years upon years upon years to make a 14-16 track album. Most artists say that but it's really just because they're lazy or uninspired to actually push themselves.

Anyone who says they want their fav artist to drop less music is coping hard

It's sad to see these newer artists like Uzi, Carti, Baby not following the blueprint that Drake and Future laid out for them

Whatever the artist wants to do

Like every year would be cool but if ur gonna drop some mid then yeah take the break.

Also when artist start dropping like 2-3 times a year they become exhausting to listen to

the planning and execution of rollout and the drop is what typically takes up months of time between releases, so that shouldn't be ignored. Drake has chosen to eschew all of that and just drop whenever he feels, and i love that because the music is good. if it wasn't, maybe i'd have more to say about it.

sometimes we convince ourselves that if certain artists take longer, their work would improve for it. but who really knows if that's the case.

Boring answer i know, but a new album anytime the artist wants to release one. They dont owe me anything. I listen to enough artists that waiting for one of my favorites longer doesnt really affect me, since there's always someone dropping their s***

    I love yearly releases

But I’m also not against something like every other year with a year of features in between if that makes sense

you don't think Uzi has put out a lot of work over the course of the decade? he pretty much drops something every year, even if it's a lil EP or something. also label issues

and i feel like Baby has dropped a lot of s*** too. just slowed down a bit since he's really blown up. again, labels see profit.

That's a good strategy as well. Drake used that from 2011 to 2015. Dropped an album in 2011, used features to own 2012. Dropped another album in 2013, used features again to own 2014.

Uzi has only been releasing a new album once every 3 years. Baby has been on somewhat the same schedule. Not counting EPs or collab albums
