I agree, pop music is probably by-and-large my favourite genre, but poptimism in music criticism and stan culture have gone too far, we're now at a stage where critics know that a 3/10 review of a Taylor Swift album will lead to their home address being leaked, and it creates a terrible climate for criticism

I like the trend of pop songs not having bridges anymore. It’s not that I don’t appreciate a good bridge, it’s just that the verse chorus verse bridge chorus structure is so predictable that I know exactly what I’m in for. Brevity is a good thing in that case.
