my least favorite would be kiss me kiss me kiss me, but all of them hit hard for me. The cure my favorite band so
I relistened to KMKMKM a week or two ago and it definitely is my least favorite of their classics. It's got some jams but the production of the era kills that album and too many tracks meander around or don't stick.
Head on the Door has all the variety and just as many great songs in half the time.

Its also just so f***ing long.
Joy Division - Closer
Madonna - Madonna
Meat Puppets - Meat Puppets II
Wipers - Youth of America
Celtic Frost - Morbid Tales
very very quick top 5
Some great albums that I think should be mentioned but probably won't:
Virginia Astley - From Gardens Where We Feel Secure
The Blue Nile - A Walk Across the Rooftops
The Chameleons - Script of the Bridge
Lloyd Cole & The Commotions - Rattlesnakes
Philip Glass - Glassworks
Robyn Hitchcock - I Often Dream of Trains
David Kauffman & Eric Caboor - Songs From Suicide Bridge
OMD - Dazzle Ships
The Sound - Jeopardy
Richard & Linda Thompson - Shoot Out the Lights
i gotta check out Robyn Hitchcock some time always been a huge fan of the Soft Boys' Underwater Moonlight
Joy Division - Closer
Madonna - Madonna
Meat Puppets - Meat Puppets II
Wipers - Youth of America
Celtic Frost - Morbid Tales

wipers underrated. Youth of America and is this real? are some stellar early post-punk
husker du - zen arcade
witchfinder general - death penalty
iron maiden - powerslave
u2 - war
the cure - p***ography
this was the hardest one yet holy s***
This one was the easiest to me
I was ready but i don't love a lot of albums on this particular time of music
Late 80s >

i kinda like some of the meandering tbh, like the guitar on The Kiss
my least favorite songs on there I probably like as much as my least favs on Head on the Door, theyre probably equally consistent to me (their 2 most inconsistent though imo)
as for the Cure 1980-1985 I think I might be starting to prefer Faith to P***ography tbh. dreamlike gloomy instead of hellish
i gotta check out Robyn Hitchcock some time always been a huge fan of the Soft Boys' Underwater Moonlight
If you like that one (and it's definitely great), check out his work with the Egyptians first, especially Fegmania and Element of Light
I Often Dream of Trains is amaaaaaazing but it's not like his early stuff. It's mostly him with his guitar, piano, occasionally some drums, working through really strange stories, musings on human psychology, dreams, surrealism, etc. It's so f***ing weird but you'll never forget it.
always like seeing some prefab sprout
Public Image LTD's Flowers of Romance is super overlooked from this era imo. Its better than Metal Box for me. The drums and distortion on the record are just bliss
wipers underrated. Youth of America and is this real? are some stellar early post-punk
their 3 album streak from debut to Over the Edge is one of my favorite streaks by anyone ever. definite contender for my favorite post-punk band which isn't even a genre I'm a fanatic of like everyone else. maybe cuz I feel like it has a bit more straight up punk than most of it, and also I prefer it to the super British type stuff like Wire. and Greg Sage's guitar is amazing, especially his tone. shoutout to Nirvana who probably turned a lot of people onto them with their covers
the urgency of Youth of America

Faith is really good. All Cats Are Grey is mad overlooked in the discussion of Cure classics.
Throw Charlotte Sometimes on there and it's got an argument for top 3 IMO.

oh damn, didnt even know of the Egyptians existence yeah might be better to get a feel for him more before getting to the folkiest stuff
is it full on psychedelic? after being classic psych fanatic for years i've been slowly easing myself into more neo-psych after disliking a lot of it for some reason
always like seeing some prefab sprout
Side A of Steve McQueen is one of the best sides of vinyl to be pressed. Bonny, Appetite, When Love Breaks Down, it's like a greatest hits
Few if any bands make a man feel cooler being lonely.
Just gonna throw out my The Cure albums ratings cuz why not:
Disintegration
P***o
Faith
Seventeen Seconds
Head on the Door
Three Imaginary Boys
Bloodflowers
Kiss Me
Wish
The Top (this album is awful)
havent bothered with the others cuz ive heard horrendous things from trusted people.
0 Smiths mentions so far.
self titled was really close for me, if it was extended to 1986 Queen Is Dead would've definitely been on mine
Public Image LTD's Flowers of Romance is super overlooked from this era imo. Its better than Metal Box for me. The drums and distortion on the record are just bliss
yeah its underrated, doesn't beat Metal Box for me but its still really great. took me the longest to get into though, pretty harsh and unforgiving album even for them. Some of the drums like on Under the House are just nuts
i think theyd be in my top 3 post punk bands along with Joy Division and Wipers. although there are a lot of bands I love who aren't quite as solidly post-punk overall/for all the albums like Minutemen. Double Nickels on the Dime is a close contender for top 5 of this era that I forgot

Double Nickels is such a weird, fun album. Hard to revisit tho cuz 40 songs over 77 mins is a bit much

honestly I'm not too huge on Charlotte Sometimes, I probably prefer the rest of Faith. big reason for that is the drums which really annoy me. and i'm not even a person who hates on 80s drum sounds, its just distracting to me
good
Hatful of Hollow could have made mine if it wasnt a compilation
im just never gonna be a smiths guy. It also doesnt help that morrisey is a massive twat

top is the only one i haven't listened to yet, for good reasons too
