over the years its become their slightly overrated one for me, still think it has a few of the greatest songs but i think its a tier below Daydream Nation, Goo, EVOL, and maybe even murray street

that's fair. I've never been crazy about Sonic Youth, but Sister was the "oh, ok. now this I can f*** with this" album for me, Daydream Nation is clearly their masterpiece, but if I'm gonna spin any of their albums it'll be Sister before the rest.

let me use an obvious example, i love kendrick but tpab gets so much praise and mentioned in every other post that I rarely ever bring it up when discussing favs. does that change my enjoyment of the music? of course not, but I don't feel the need to ever discuss it because it feels like everything that needs to be said about it has been said over and over and over and over. that's not counting all of the indie classics that rym praises like it's the best thing since sliced bread

yeah i feel you, not bringing up to discuss is one thing and I tend to agree. but ill never deny something is a favorite just because its popular. id rather admit my taste is basic instead of trying to artificially pretend my favorites are more "cool" (not saying you do that)

i don't think any of us said anything about denying our favs, it was mostly about being jaded by the d***riding from stans and music community when it comes to discussing ktt / rym darlings. maybe i misworded it or you misinterpreted my post. when I first got heavy into music I didn't mind any of that but over time it became unbearable.

Nu Metal is more fun and groovy, grunge is depressing at times
