Bad Moon Rising is sooo good! that Mudhoney cover is incredible.
yeah, not trynna come off as some snob who is above it all and whatnot. you know you and i discover new music in similar ways, so i consider you of the same ilk, but trust me, music nerds go through this from time to time. i won't dismiss something based on the love it's receiving but when you keep seeing the same artists and bands gushed over and over and over a part of you turns the other way. stans ruin it for themselves and others as well.
yeah i guess you can just speak for yourself on this one, i dont get turned the other way when i see popular artist praised and its kinda hard for me to imagine
especially weird for me to imagine being negatively influenced by people's opinions from a site i hate like people hating on rym users and acting like they ruin stuff for them because of rabid fandom. while they dont even use the site in question...
it makes discussion more boring for me definitely, but ill still love the beatles just as much even though theyve been praised to death endlessly and are the biggest band ever. but it does makes talking about them generally pretty sale at this point because its the same s*** over and over
The Blueprint
Late Registration
Siempre Es Hoy
Discovery
Be
HM: Confessions, C2, Lord Willin
sister is my fav sonic youth album
over the years its become their slightly overrated one for me, still think it has a few of the greatest songs but i think its a tier below Daydream Nation, Goo, EVOL, and maybe even murray street

yeah that bottom paragraph was my point to begin with lol you just worded it better
although talking heads have grown off me a bit, but thats more do to me finding their albums outside of RIL kinda weak
The Name of This Band Is Talking Heads is definitely their essential release for me

I can't even rank their albums like that, too much greatness
I can't even rank their albums like that, too much greatness
yeah its hard, the only way i could really do it is dividing everything into like 4 tiers of varying greatness
my s***ty rym profile is here if anyone hasn't added me yet too btw. Enjoy my s*** reviews!

let me use an obvious example, i love kendrick but tpab gets so much praise and mentioned in every other post that I rarely ever bring it up when discussing favs. does that change my enjoyment of the music? of course not, but I don't feel the need to ever discuss it because it feels like everything that needs to be said about it has been said over and over and over and over. that's not counting all of the indie classics that rym praises like it's the best thing since sliced bread
