You looking for an honest answer or you looking for a Drake circle jerk?
Like bro any legitimate answer a mf say people are gonna find some contradiction because dude (and his brand of racially ambiguous aesthetically non black dork who worked his way into being the ultimate cool rich Nigga) is a vicarious idol to a certain type of lame lol
saying this as someone who has fw drake since ransom freestyle

Maybe try just answering first? Idk what these niggas are on but I just asked a question
Now YOU are deflecting. The question was asked to highlight how people only keep those standards when it comes to Drake.
The OP originally asked what people want from Drake in terms of subject matter.
I'm not sure what that has to do with Future. They are two different rappers with different histories and skills sets.
Him doing that was him trying to comment on a social issue in the first place so this post makes 0 sense.
Saving face doesn’t count b****

I already did answer and conveniently you missed that post but saw this one. Quoted you too
Saving face doesn’t count b****
Saving face? You think he was just like yeah I hate black people and did it to do it? There was already context behind it and he explained that context. Y'all so slow man 😂
I asked a question didn't I?
Well people who have this criticism are just looking for more substance. At the end of the day art is subjective, if you like Drake's music you are not any better or worse than somebody who doesn't, but some people prefer more substantial music with introspective lyrics.
Drake drops every single year and I really don't know anything about him. Which is cool, we the listener are not entitled to him or his personal life or whatever, but he just doesn't make the type of music I want to listen to. I still listen when he drops cause his albums usually have 2-3 standouts to me but some people just view him as pop music and that's fine, there's nothing wrong with that
I'm also not trying to listen to somebody pushing 40 talk about f***ing 21 year olds
His true thoughts/feelings/POV’s a La So Far Gone and not the “character” of Drake
Make an actual album that he would have considered cool when he was 21 not something to maintain the brand of drake. Lol niggas is allowed to be tired of that
Got a lot of notifications, sorry I didn't respond to this one specifically bro.
This is a fair response, not mad at it. None of us know Drake personally to say whether it's an act that he is the way he is but he was a little more introspective once upon a time so I'm not gonna hate on this, though he still does tap into those pockets occasionally imo just maybe not across a whole project.
Drake has legitimate subject matter that is an accurate reflection of the life he lives.
The problem is he has stretched that subject matter over the course of 15 years and in the last 4 years specifically has dropped 6 f***ing times talking about the same s***. And that's not even to mention he's still on every 4th feature talking about the same s***.
It's not that he's not saying something it's that he's saying the same s*** we've heard from him a million times before and it is so stale and tired to the point that it feels like nothing.
Future always talks about the same s*** and people gassing up this album lol. It’s cool project but c’mon now all these artists talk about the same s***.

I can see the argument of "We don't know much about him" I mean we do, but I suppose not as of late. Whether that be because he really doesn't have much going on other than drama with b****es or he just isn't giving us the full peak into his life I'm not sure of, but definitely can see this. He's held to a different standard than most and that's because of how he came up, so wanting more than tracks that simply sound good but lack a lot of depth is a valid complaint.
I want Drake to talk about his life. Everything from being a rich big d***ed MF to his upcoming as a young hungry nigga tryna make it in the game. How he is a mommas boy and his relationship with his dad. Previous girls. Adonis and sending subliminals to different rappers. Motivational s*** like started from the bottom and addressing rumors about him and stuff like that. Where he sees himself in the future and his vision. For e.g does he want to meet someone? Does he want more kids? Does he want to start a business etc. a lot of things I’d love to hear from him OP

future drops every 2 years
future drops every 2 years
Idc about the time period he drops lol he literally sticks to the same subject matter every single time regardless
future drops every 2 years
And he has like 35 projects out and talks about the exact same s*** on all of them.

we hold drake to a higher standard. future is also way less popular and way less in our face as a result we don't feel it as much. additional responsibility comes with being the biggest artists on the planet.

I didn't say there's a problem with drake's subject matter. I said we're tired of it because his output is so high and he's so popular. If Drake dropped every 2 years and the music didn't hit you at every corner it wouldn't feel as stale an uninteresting.

"We hold Drake to a different standard." Why? Did he ask y'all to do that? That's on you.
And as far as his music, no one is forcing you to listen since it's so stale to you now.

because he's the biggest artist on the planet the f***? s*** comes with the territory.

No, it doesn't. Y'all only do that with Drake. Taylor Swift is in her mid 30s still making music that she made when she was a teenager and no one complains about it. In fact, I'd argue that a lot of her lyrical content from the early 2010s is a lot more mature than her lyrical context from now.
Clearly he be saying s*** to have two knuckle heads to drop an entire album about him
because he's the biggest artist on the planet the f***? s*** comes with the territory.
Ariana Grande is a top 10 artist on the planet making "boy bye music" at the age of 30
Taylor Swift is the #1 artist in the world making cringer music now than her debut album
Kanye West is making absolutely insanely immature music at the age of like 50 (top 10 most streamed artist in the US)
Selena Gomez (not a top artist but near enough) is 31 making "Single Soon" type songs still
same with basically every artist at the top, it's not something unique to drake
