bro, I'm not going to explain to you the concepts of ambiguity and ironized symbolism, she literally buries the idea of traditional american ideals in the very first song... how old are you, 12?
certified b**** ass nigga response
she has maybe 4 lines about reclamation on the album and a few visuals at the show about taking imagery back. It’s always rang hollow to me and even more now to don all that American imagery and not delve into the complexities of that. “A whole lot of red in that white and blue” on Ya Ya and transitioning to your song with a Kendrick feature after performing the f***in national anthem is not enough for me. Love her and the album itself but the majority of the images surrounding it are billionaire brain. Almost there, not quite
“how old are you, 12?”
take your b**** ass back to Reddit lmao

Ironized symbolism has just become a “have your cake and eat it too” tactic. It’s unserious
Literally nothing y’all just don’t like it i hate when y’all don’t like something y’all act like it wasn’t extremely critically acclaimed a huge commercial hit and a 10/10 tour that EVERYONE went to. Just because YOU ain’t enjoy it don’t mean anything went wrong
The song with Miley Cyrus is just a different level of music tbh
And it f***ing got AOTY what the f*** do you mean where did it go wrong you niggas really lack so much self awareness bro
Absolutely nothing wrong with Cowboy Carter.
It had a global #1 single (her best performing single in ages), an acclaimed album and a massive tour where she broke various records.
Post-album hits are not that common these days, especially for older artists. Cuff It took off because of Tik Tok suddenly – Church Girl was supposed to be the second single of Renaissance.
II Most Wanted was sent to radio after the album came out but it didn't get much interest (people wanted Bodyguard instead) and she didn't do much music-wise after that, returning only in December for the NFL performance.
it didn't really go wrong for me
wouldn't say its a totally flawless album but its such a unique exploration and mix of different styles. even better as a contrast to Renaissance too even though Renaissance is better
maybe just the perception/expectation of it as a full-on 'country album' which the aesthetic, title etc. definitely didn't help with
i think people will look back pretty kindly on it tbh even if it remains an underappreciated black sheep in her catalog. (also banking on Act 3 to also be good and another contrast to complete the trilogy)

Sometimes the release album & 'let the fans choose the single' is a good thing although it does make me question if the folks choosing the singles have the right ear
From the first listen of Renaissance on release it was clear to me that Cuff It was one of Beyoncé's best ever song/Love On Top tier
Tbh she could’ve taken off spaghetti, Levi’s jeans, Texas hold em, and sweet honey buckin
Not too much on SHB!
Best thing Pharrell been involved with in a long time.
Should of just kept it at country and folk songs, the country hip hop/dance fusions didnt land well
Album is quite good although it doesn't pull me in for repeated listens as much as some of her others
Pretty much all of my critique/negative thoughts for this era are not related to the music (besides including Miley & Post on there, back to back)
The tour was still amazing, there's just weird optics around the imagery, some folks might be getting more aware of Beyoncé being apolitical while being faux socially aware. Luckily it came out before Trump was back in office otherwise it might've looked a bit sketchier having all the pro America imagery whilst being silent about what's going on.
Bring on Act 3 anyway
Current Beyonce ranking
Renaissance
Lemonade
Beyonce
Cowboy Carter
B'Day
4
Dangerously In Love
Sasha Fierce
Got a lot of love for Lemonade so I feel wrong for putting Renaissance over it, they could switch depending on the day tbh
All Up In Your Mind & Thique might be the only tracks I'm not too fussed about on Ren
It went wrong in trying to recuperate black people into american history in one of the most weird ways (buffalo soldiers), who killed natives. we cosigning this?

Idk I’m African American this country is mine

eh, TYRANT kinda became the people's hit similar to how AMERICA HAS A PROBLEM did.

Wasn't that because of a tiktok trend of a Mashup

Everything is because of a TikTok trend of a mashup these days
Idk tho I'm not on TikTok, likely tho lol
