I think Magna is decent/mediocre but I dont think its mostly bad overall
I respect that tho, would be bottom 5 along with Dynasty imo. Two albums of his that I think are middle of the road.
Dynasty is more of a compilation but a very underrated project. DEFINITELY better than KC, Vol2, BP2, BP3 and Magna
Vol.1 and Vol.3 are amazing, what you talking about?
Vol.1 is really good minus the 1-2 forced radio singles.
Both average at best would even go as far to say vol 2 / 3 are semi bad
It’s forgettable. Anyone who says it’s a good album is trying to be a contrarian
Not a "Good" album, but it's only like 2+3 misfires that prevent it from being good.
Both average at best would even go as far to say vol 2 / 3 are semi bad
Vol. 2 is bad but I can't believe anyone would say that about 1 and 3
He should get a pass for Kingdom Come because it was obvious he was rusty as f*** coming out of retirement lol
As great as AG and 4:44 was he's never regained back that effortless flow and delivery he used to have before he retired.
His last verse on Smile took me back to that old Hov. He still has those moments here and there
Bottom tier Hov album
Better than MCHG, worse than BP3
Arguably his album performance wise, he was coming off retirement sounding old
Prelude
Oh My God
Kingdom Come
Show Me What You Got
Lost One
Dig a Hole ok to me
Everything else ranges from average to trash
And the highs on here don’t really send this album over the top. Lost One is a top tier introspective Hov song though
i think every major artist hits a dip in the quality of their records and unfortunately i think this and american gangster are hovs, just imo tho i’m not experts
American Gangster is a great album lol
I have a soft spot for kingdom come cause of nostalgia. But yeah u can tell he was trying to transition into more conscious/grown man rap and ain't really execute it that well lol

30 Something and I Made It fire too
The latter could fit right in on BP1. Very underrated song of his.
Hip-Hop needs more energy like Show Me What You Got. Who can rap over this in 2021?
!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sULA40jmBckI agree

yea but his voice, flow and delivery was off. He didn't sound like his old self coming back from retirement.
That was the main issue.
Vol. 2 is bad but I can't believe anyone would say that about 1 and 3
We calling Vol 2 bad now?
S*** was a very 1998 hip-hop album so a lot of it sounds dated by today’s standards but back then it was considered near flawless
If you can get into that vintage late 90s vibe Its really not one miss. I rank it among Hov classics
Classics:
BP 9.5
Rd 9.4
TBA 9.2
WTT 9.1
444 8.8
Vol 2 8.2
AG 8.1
Non-Classics:
Vol 1. 7.8
Dynasty 7.5
Vol 3 7.4
BP2 7.2
KC 7.1
BP3 7.0
Magna Carter 6.9
I remember thinking it was bad but not sure how it aged. I think we were harder on HOV (and maybe everybody) then than we are now.
The Vol trilogy are his worst 3 albums
lmaoo how the hell do you think bruh made it??
Vol. 2 is bad but I can't believe anyone would say that about 1 and 3
nah for the time it was crazy good it cemented hov as a top rapper but it’s so late 90s that not everytime can get around it today
Hip-Hop needs more energy like Show Me What You Got. Who can rap over this in 2021?
!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sULA40jmBcknobody has flowed better over more beats that other rappers wouldn’t even know how to approach.
It had some good tracks, mid of the pack/bottom tier for HOV

I'm a major old school hip-hop head and I just feel like VOL2 forced way too many mainstream records.
I'm surprised how many people like it better than Vol. 1.. Imaginary Players, Streets is Watching and A Million & One Questions destroy pretty much everything on VOL2
The Blueprint 10/10
Black Album 10/10
Reasonable Doubt 9.5/10
4:44 - 9/10
Watch the Throne - 9/10
Vol.1 - 8.5/10
American Gangster - 8/10

Dynasty - 7/10
Kingdom Come - 6.5/10
Vol.2 - 6.5/10
Magna Carta - 6.5/10
Blueprint 2 - 6/10
Blueprint 3 - 6/10

What do y'all make of Kingdom Come? The hype was unreal, being that it was Hov's "comeback" album. I recently revisited the project.
I think the main issue with the public perception of this album is that the hype was unreal for obvious reasons. Whereas he met the hype with Black Album, he failed to meet it here, but I think it's still a fairly strong project.
I think the first 3 tracks are excellent. The Prelude is a good Intro, Kingdom Come and Oh My God are excellent Just Blaze tracks. Heck, I don't even mind Show Me What You Got. It's a solid single.
What holds this album back is records like Anything and Hollywood, the 2 weakest songs on the album IMO. Way too formulatic, it was two too many Pop sounding radio attempts. I don't like "I made it" either, but for different reasons.
It's a shame because it ends on such a strong note. Minority Report and Beach Chair are two classic records. Even the Dr. Dre contributions are quite good. I've always loved Lost Ones. 30 Something is quite dope too. The John Legend record is solid. Trouble might be the worst of the 4 Dr. Dre tracks, but it's by no means a bad song.
Overall thoughts? Definitely better than MGCH, BP 2, Vol.2 and BP 3 IMO. Not his worst album by any means.
if he cut a few songs it would've aged much better than it did regardless of the reception it got at the time. I think its almost like Drake's VIEWS, the hype was so high that it would've been perceived as underwhelming pretty much regardless of what he put out. Jay-Z needed Kingdom Come as a detour so he could refine what he wanted to do for the future of his career. like someone else said ITT it's a grown man album. Minority Report is amazing to this day.
