Beat reminded me of that Castlevania sample they rapped over. Bloody Tears? I think it was called. Those first 3 AOTP albums were dope but I remember the last two really felt outdated in sound

It's telling they dropped their Greatest Hits after the first three. That was really the last gasp of that stuff.

But then all came back in 2012 with Life's Good, most of the beats on that album were great, and I think he had great production ever since including the Kanye produced album imo

Yeah they were some of the most forward-thinking in terms of production and what East Coast battle rap verses can be utilized on during the 2000s. Like those samples were wild.

But it seemed around their 40s, they wanted to rap over retro-style 90s beats and it made their records sound like old guys who just really miss the 90s.
