Its all the same reason, and the US and UK were never shy about it.

Atlantic Slave Trade, Jim Crow segregation, Native American genocide, British colonization, German colonization, US colonization, the Holocaust were all done and justified in the name of white supremacy. This brought us to the concept of race and the divisions it has sowed ever since.

Colonization is an economic action, they weren't exploiting in order to spread white supremacy

It wasn't to spread white supremacy. But the Scramble for Africa and the fact Europe colluded to stay out of each other's way and f*** over Africa as they were seen as an inferior race definitely played a huge part. Obviously the economic action was a huge priority but white supremacy played a vital role in how it played out and why it wasn't condemned by the powers of the world at the time.

Yep that’s why the phrase “kill the Indian save the man” was a thing, and also the literal killing of indigenous populations, as well as the forced conversion to different religious systems, abuses leveled for using one’s native language, could go on and on

No cultural superiority involved whatsoever sure

When referring to modern history as well I can’t believe there’s been no mention of Russia and the Soviet Union- which killed more people than the Nazi regime ever did at the height of their respective powers

There are multiple ukrainian genocide deniers on this site lol

Of course they (colonists) thought they were the superior culture, I didn't claim they didn't? Just that it wasn't the real reason.

No different from when the US goes into foreign countries in the name of democracy now, what's changed is what the public finds palatable as justification

Native American situation is different and I generally agree with your sentiment there

What readings would you recommend on this, specifically scramble for Africa?

Native American situation is not very different from what takes place in Australia, New Zealand, Israel (not white per se but definitely European-adjacent people discriminating against Arabs with support from the US that speaks to the US’ own racialized foreign policy abroad), and previously South Africa and Algeria (probably more African countries but I can only mention what I know).

When you say “the real reason,” most racism and cultural superiority can be ultimately explained by economic reasons if one wants to, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t racist or upholding white supremacy too. White supremacy breaks indigenous investments in prior economic/cultural systems (usually more localized and less property fetishized) to bring new peoples and land into the global market economy. It’s racist and economic cultural chauvinism
