slavery, death, rape and pillaging is nothing new for UK or US as well , the Mongols prob have the biggest mass massacre event, but the US and UK had multiple over time (Native American Genoicide, India colonization, Korean War, Atlantic Slave trade)to list a few which has caused untold amount of death as well which imo just adds up over then having the Mongol Conquest and then nothing else.

Them destroying the irrigation systems literally turned those countries into the deserts they are today, Bagdhad is just recovering from all that and it was hundreds of years ago
They killed so many Persians it took 600 years for the population to get back to what it used to be
After that give it to the europeans

I think they’re just viewed as always f***ed by a lot of people, but much in the way Stalin isn’t ever considered worse than Hitler, Russia’s down moments historically are never really put on the tier 1 by the mainstream

Either directly destroying them or from the depopulation of the region leaving it difficult to have the manpower to repair and run the systems.
Then post Mongols those that had power over the region were pretty much other countries acting as power brokers and that was constantly changing, so s*** just stayed in a state of disrepair for a very very long time.
