Honestly gtfo out of the culture if it’s too much work to do the bare minimum of discovering new artists fam
Problem with becoming the #1 genre is the over saturation of fair weather fans, that’s who the popular artists people complain are catering to anyway
U have the entire past & present of music at your fingertips u could be snuggled up in the lil spoon on your side in bed just scrolling & have access to more fire you could ever possibly listen to but because it’s not on rap caviar already it’s too much work ok cool musics not your thing maybe catch a movie then
No I don’t because y’all don’t really love this s*** then. And it’s really not that hard to find
My point is you shouldnt have to do that. Good music should be pushed just like the bullshit is
I take a break every now and then and when i miss it i put spotify rap playlists on shuffle
Holy s*** shade was thrown
right lol and i was raised on this s*** too but f*** it

I feel you man. Maybe he just read title and thought you meant rap as a whole, not just new releases

yeah I shouldve clarified that
yeah I shouldve clarified that
There are plenty of new releases that sound like classic hip hop
They're just not mainstream

Fr though, a big issue has been the production since around post 2018. Beats don’t seem to have that distinctive sound anymore and it all sounds a bit background music like. SFG had great performances from Thug, but compare those beats to Tha Tour/B6. That’s one of the main issues for me rn.
i actually had stopped bumping rap like that around the time the thread was made but i've returned to the fold since
Ehh not as heavy on it as I was in the 2000s and 2010s. However it is still my go to genre as that's just what I've grown up hearing most of my life. These days I much prefer old soul, jazz, funk, and blues, but since hip-hop does takes from these genres frequently in the production and even songwriting, I'm always able to go back to rap quite easily and find something to enjoy about it.
Yeah I don’t but my tastes just changed
I wasn’t really into rap like that anyways just the popular artists and a few lesser known ones
Listening to rap albums feels like such a chore to me these days
I stopped trynna keep up with all the new popping s***. A lot of these niggas either too repetitive, ass or boring to me. Pooh Shiesty was our last hope.
