eh, i got zero sympathy for yall
every time someone post a new artist on here all you get in the replies is “wHo?¿? jOrDaNLafF”
Name some good artists under 25 not named Smino
Nope, I just don’t care as much to listen to all the new radio artists (not to imply they’re bad, but mostly not for me)
AG Club ~ Memphis
Choker ~ Petrol Bliss
Corbin ~ calmdown (only on soundcloud)
SAFE ~ On My Own
Trash Island
and of course ecco2k and lean
Stuff that meshes hip hop with elements of other genres in a fresh way:
Garren Sean ~ The Jam
George Clanton ~ Livin’ Loose
Jean Dawson ~ Power Freaks
Jean Dawson ~ Bruiseboy
Shlohmo ~ The End (album)
These albums?
y’all been saying this since 2010. just say you need to be put on to some other artists or don’t know how to look for new music cause that’s what it boils down to.
there’s plenty of s*** that’s probably exactly what you looking for out there
These albums?
i know how you are, so my list won’t be for you some of those songs are a part of good albums though

Lmao I need my artists to make great albums
yeah. went at least 5 years where I exclusively listened to classic rock / pop / r&b. i think most music nerds go through a phase like that at least once in their lives.
i feel like no music nerd is gonna overlook a specific genre for half a decade bruh you just don’t like rap as much as the others lol

why you giving out r&b albums and experimental beat tapes itt lol
why you giving out r&b albums and experimental beat tapes itt lol
what’s this r&b album you speak of
shlohmo combines current hip-hop production with rock in a cool way on that tape, that’s why i recommended it, george clanton does the same thing but with boom bap drums and vaporwave
Stopped listening to new rappers around 2018 since everyone’s just a clone of Keef/Thug/Future, the last new artists that I liked were probably Lil Baby and Baby Keem
Relistening to albums from a few years back that you might’ve skimmed through, and finding out that a lot of the songs are better than you thought >>>
Did that with Summer Knights, Honest, Darkest Before Dawn, Awaken My Love, and a bunch of others, it’s a good feeling every time
90’s-2000’s music is good s*** too. Nas, Wayne, Pac, and Jay are some of my favorite rappers and I still haven’t finished listening to their whole discogs yet

just thought it was weird you were recommending beat tapes and choker and corbin in a thread about rap but nvm
Now why would I do that?
Think the argument would be that young rappers don’t make great albums.
Lil Yachty was the final nail in the coffin in my opinion. He made s*** amateur sounding music and being a corporate sellout cool, it's been all downhill from there.
Lil boat a 10/10 don't quote me
Every summer I always find myself switching to mainly listening to country cuz it’s usually a lotta lake parties, pool parties, festivals
But then Rona popped up
just thought it was weird you were recommending beat tapes and choker and corbin in a thread about rap but nvm
i didn’t recommend choker as a complete artist, hence why i literally recommended a single song of his that features him rapping over a hip hop beat
op mentions being tired of hearing the same beats which is why i thought it would make sense to give some instrumentals, considering how important beat tapes are to hip hop
the whole point is that people think the genre is becoming stale, but if you understand how genres evolve then you know it happens by pulling from other genres and time periods to create something new and fresh
no one could have told you 5 years ago that a song like The Jam could exist, s*** sounds like jai paul instrumentation and singing going over a trap beat, but that’s a direct result of rap melding with other concepts. Mainstream rap is at a standstill right now because it isnt doing that, it’s staying in it’s box
I hate this excuse. Like yall dont see anything wrong with having to dig thru the internet just to find good music? Rap is so over saturated with bullshit that real fans have do daily scientific research just to keep interest
No I don’t because y’all don’t really love this s*** then. And it’s really not that hard to find
I give new rappers a shot but I’m usually disappointed
Only new age rapper I like is Melly and even he isn’t near the rappers of the late 2000s and early 2010s

I just listen now. i have absolutely zero investment in how trash or good overall the genre is.
Like Gunna's album is good for what it is, but it's a major step down and sign of the times for rap overall.
No because rap was never just a phase for me I was raised on this s***
Holy s*** shade was thrown
