Imagine getting 3 crazy listening parties where you as a fan see the album evolve to the end product Donda. Everyone was hating at the time but looking back it was an amazing rollout

Just because it was entertaining at the time (and not all entertainment is good entertainment) doesn’t mean it will age well, and most haven’t. It might be enticing news to keep up with but it’s nothing to look back on as a respectable move.

Every time I hear some Ye drama now, that “everybody gon say something, I’d be worried if they say nothing” line rings a little louder each time.

    Yeah so.....?

Not everybody has the resources that's right but he still executed the vision

Does the fact that others don't have the same resources (or dont want to spend the same money) take away from the art?

    What art?

    The Darkest Angel

Ye literally has the worst rollouts now. None of that tmz Kardashian MAGA Drake beef or whatever s*** is "entertaining" unless you've never experienced a real Ye rollout like Graduation or MBDTF

Yeezus and TLOP were goat too

    Also Donda

    Easily Ye lmao

  • May 2, 2022

ye would if he didn't have BS antics involved and just have his listening parties set with the album finished and released on time

  • Cole probably off the top of my head

J Cole. Announces album, gives good glimpses and drops when he says he will drop.

Oh this typical hollow argument where every abstract piece can be interpreted as art. “Performance art usually centers on a single act or artist, who signalizes and symbolizes some special message. Through body, motion, and gesture, declamatory speech, custome and accessories, stage property and sound.” Fancy way of saying he dances without a purpose or meaning on unfinished music while a house is burning down in some new Ye fit. I'm not going to spend 20 minutes listening to some douche overcomplicating stuff just to ride Ye's d***.

These rollouts are for music, and if anything these listening parties proved is he's struggling real hard to deliver us that music.

This applies to the latest rollouts though, I fw everything before Pablo

I watched several pieces and felt my brain melting because of the d***riding and overcomplicating of several details. But fair enough that's often when discussing art.

Personally I'm unable to see these messages during those performances and get anything of "art" other than some interesting concepts.

You got me thinking, but I'm not doing a 180. So I guess it's somewhere in the middle. I'm too focussed on the music and I think these performances could be better. But again that professor reviews music and is a Ye fan stating "Kanye is the most successful Performance Artist of All Time".

But with art, especially performance art, it's not like it's always a clear message like "yo the meaning of life is 42" tho lol, and that's definitely not the case here for sure. There are interesting concepts as you say, but a lot of the times the purpose is to get you to think about those concepts from a different angle presented by the artist instead of telling you exactly what to think.

And yeah he called him the most successful performance artist, but he was being a bit provocative lol, in another video he said he meant successful specifically and not necessarily the greatest.

He goes more in depth here, his videos and reviews are very interesting in general tbh also about other artists, I really liked his review about Dawn FM

Yes, rollout is promotion leading up to the album, a good rollout is not misleading and lying to your fans and causing drama for attention

  • May 2, 2022
    Kako

    Death Grips

Bottomless Pit/The Powers That B were crazy rollouts
