well thats a pretty harsh way to look at things
No it's not, I'm not gonna give artists who make "good albums" that works for their niche and they continue to recycle the same style while other artists stress themselves for years trying to come up with new ideas and challenge themselves the same credit
It was never considered an album. That's why there was no single.
Spicy wreaks and Smoking doesnt belong on Stillmatic.
At the time of its release it was. Most people don't even know what a compilation is, unless it's a greatest hits. It's cannon, not an offshoot.
I played it early this year when I was going on a ATCQ / Q-Tip kick
I rarely see The Renaissance brought up in these kinda convos...for good reason.
Nothing has compelled me to revisit it honestly

Just give it another listen. Maybe it'll hit different today than it did before

Then why wasnt there a single if it was an album? Why was there no promotion?

I honestly have no idea. I just bought it purely off of brand.

Of course, Cause Nas was coming off of Stillmatic and they were still recording God's Son that dropped later on that year.
It was never an "album" in the sense that these songs were recorded specifically for this project

I might need to revisit it myself. Cause outside of the 1st single....I dont remember anything off of it.
Kaseem Ryan has zero misses
the blind dont feel me like there's no braille left

In that sense, you're right. I didn't know that back then and didn't even read through the booklet. The music had me blown away. I absolutely think King's Disease flows just as smoothly though.
Having a GOAT discog isn’t about the absence of mid, it’s about having a lot of GOAT material
Kanye f***ing West
Exactly even 2pac and biggie had some mid
Kendrick but ya'll don't want to admit it
Hasnt done enough.
Getting his ass kissed by music publications isnt enough for me. The music just needs to hit and sometimes it does, alot of times it doesnt.

Life After Death has a few trash songs
I can listen to Pac's last 3 albums without skipping a song tho
Exactly even 2pac and biggie had some mid
Pac had more hits then mid.
Hes like Nas where his unreleased stuff is a treasure trove of goodies.
Common has a dope discography
Better than most artists
I'd say it's on the same level as Jay's, both got fantastic albums but lots of forgettable/mid too
Kendrick but ya'll don't want to admit it
there's still room for error or classics for kendrick
say that again when he in his 40s
