It's made for fans of P and The Neptunes, music fans, and out of his own love for Legos.
If Kids want to see it and enjoy it, then that's way better, it could possibly generate more fans.
That's not a movie audience tho, like it could be a small budget youtube short film makes sense but a box office entry made for neptunes fans specifically is crazy

I mean he definitely overshot it making it box office, but to make it seem like there's no audience that it's made for is wild.
Honestly, he would've had way better success by making it a Nickelodeon TV-premiered film.
It probably won't matter anyway, because the film is getting rave reviews and looking to become a cult classic when it reaches Netflix.
