Eminem.
2 Diamond albums that sold 20+ million hard copies globally, a blockbuster movie that grossed a quarter of a billion, huge hits in the peak of radio and MTV(including Lose Yourself), the D12 album, controversy that dominated the news, a number 1 soundtrack, being a rap "boogeyman", and fw sales above a milli.
Drakes peak had him saturating himself more with features and having tons of songs chart via streaming but the dominance wasn't on Em's level.
Hell, I'm not even sure if his dominance was on the level of 03-05 50 Cent even though Drakes run outlasted 50's.
It's close but Drake tied MJ's record. Eminem struggled to do half in twice the time. And Drake is the highest certified artist by RIAA he passed Eminem about 5 years ago and the gap only got bigger since. Who's bigger is debatable but the longevity goes to Drake no doubt. Eminem also afraid to tour while Drake got the highest selling in rap history and that's without needing stadiums
Is a CD bigger than an "album equivalent unit"?
There's your answer

Drake bigger in US. RIAA is only US. Em bigger WW.
Eminem. Drake started to decline in those years quality wise.
MMLP & TES are miles better than Views, More Life and Scorpion

Anyone who wants to be seriously considered to have “broken MJ’s record” with album equivalent streams should have to beat the record like 4 times over, it’s just not the same

We're in the era where every notable musician debuts at number 1 and he drops like two albums a year lol of course he's gunna break the record at that rate
We honestly need to stop trying to equate streams and sales. They do not translate
Probably em based off of just the movie. The film industry is multiple times larger than the music industry. There are single film companies that gross more than all of the music industry combined. Kinda puts in perspective how difficult and impressive it is to succeed as a musician. Having that huge movie, ontop of diamond albums, put em in front of a lot bigger audience than drake.
I respect people saying Em. It's impossible to do a 1:1 comparison due to how commercial performances changed during that time so in the end it's just guesswork.
But Drake's 2018:
God's Plan: #1, most streamed song in 2018 and it went 8x platinum in 6 months
He released ''Nice For what'' 3 months after God's Plan: Another #1 and it went 5x platinum in 5 months. Beautiful and powerful women empowering song. One of my all time fave Drake songs
2 months later ''In My Feelings'' became a worldwide hit. Another #1 that went 5x plat in 5 months
He also had several huge feature hits during that period. Look Alive, Yes Indeed etc.
And his 2016 was also crazy. Several huge worldwide hits and Views did 1m first week. Were there any rappers who came close to such numbers in 2016, 17, 18?
Like, look at this list from Forbes:
''Here is the full list of the top 10 bestselling albums in the world in 2016:
1. Beyoncé - Lemonade, 2.5 million
2. Adele - 25, 2.4 million
3. Drake - Views, 2.3 million
4. Metallica - Hardwired...to Self-Destruct, 2.1 million
5. David Bowie - Blackstar, 1.9 million
6. The Rolling Stones - Blue & Lonesome, 1.8 million
7. Bruno Mars - 24k Magic, 1.7 million
8. Twenty One Pilots - Blurryface, 1.5 million
9. Coldplay - A Head Full of Dreams, 1.4 million
10. Pentatonix - A Pentatonix Christmas, 1.4 million''
It's Drake for me but I don't mind people saying Em
Views did 2.3 million in all of 2016
The Marshall Mathers LP did 3.65 million and The Eminem Show did 2.9 million both in four weeks
That should settle this debate

Bro Eminem is not afraid to tour
There’s people in third world countries who have every word of Lose Yourself memorized. Drake is just obsessed with numbers and is in a contract where he has to constantly work.

To fully understand why you are wrong I can recommend you to look into the top 10 most selling albums in 2000, 2001 and 2002 and compare it to the amount of albums sold by the top 10 in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
Witnessed Prime Em and there's
still nothing like it. That whole period from MMLP-Eminem Show then GRODT not long after was insane . Aftermath was intact.
