    Eminem, not close

    Drake by a landslide

    Nah....can't be.

Drake saturated himself more but Eminem was a larger than life celebrity with a box office giant and was the biggest selling artist of 00-02.

Even the 8 Mile Soundtrack had more impact than Scorpion with Lose Yourself alone having way more staying power than God's Plan.

I'd say 50 and Pac were bigger than music during their peaks too.

Wayne would've been too if he wasn't so recluse.

yup agreed as far as all family in europe is concerned 50 and em are like 20% of the hip hop artists they know

  • Em lol come on

  • pretty sure Em was like one of the best selling artists ever even before the streaming era

  • Jul 18, 2024

drake 2016-2018 was closer to 2000-2002 nelly than eminem

Hate to do it to you bro but it’s Eminem

Had to do it to em

  • Jul 18, 2024

It’s legitimately sad people will only be able to use numbers to try and compare peoples runs now to then. It wss a whole different feel when everything took place on tv or in sparse parts of the internet, not even on some boomer good ol days s*** just a whole different media consumption experience compared to now

  • Jul 18, 2024

It's Eminem and it's not even close, Drake's run during those years is probably the most comparable to that though

To fully understand why you are wrong I can recommend you to look into the top 10 most selling albums in 2000, 2001 and 2002 and compare it to the amount of albums sold by the top 10 in 2016, 2017 and 2018.

One day you will understand that post-streaming achievements will simply never hold the same weight that pre-streaming achievements do. It’s never been easier and more convenient to consume music than it is right now

This is a weird double standard

If someone posted a wall of text about Em would you read it?

    No! ♥️

  • Jul 18, 2024

Eminem easily. Eminem at his peak was the biggest rapper of all time.

Niggas really debating a legit once in a lifetime peak in any genre to some f***ing streaming records. Give me a break

Funny enough what you said about a once in a lifetime peak in any genre fits what drake had done in 2018 as well. Dude literally spent the most weeks at #1 on the hot 100 in a year EVER. It aint just streaming records lol. He literally released a diamond record each quarter of that year

  • Jul 18, 2024

    Em

    Streaming numbers are not real

Eminem outsold everybody from 2000-2002. Drake couldn't even outsell Kendrick in 2017 and no "b-but it's a playlist" excuses would have been necessary for peak Eminem. If his name was attached to something, it was a smash success.

Drake didn’t outsell kendrick in 2017 because More Life didn’t have a full tracking week like DAMN lol.

Eminem has been releasing trash albums with a few hits here and there for over a decade now (almost two) and people still talk about him. Even when they look down on him, the fact that he's still discussed this much shows a lot in terms of popularity. Internationally, there are many people way bigger than Drake (including Eminem).

most regular people here in Germany don't know who Drake is. Only young people but Gen Z mostly. Everybody knew Eminem.

I don’t understand why people like to downplay streaming when it comes to Drake. He’s dominated the streaming era, point blank period.

The same way Em dominated the CD era. You can only do what is possible in your era.

Also, this notion of Drake not being able to sell physical is absolutely ludicrous.

Thank me later, Take Care, Nothing was the same, IYRTITL, and Views all sold 1M+ physical copies in a time period where people weren’t buying records.

Eminem had a higher peak, but simply discrediting Drake’s dominance is stupid.

  • Eminem

I mean every white kid was literally wearing blonde hair.
Some black kids rocked da CLB hairstyle but that's it.

    Eminem was everywhere man
I was just a kid, but I remember it vividly
And am from a small ass town in Belgium and still the Eminem influence was and is huge

Even kids here today know all da prime Eminem songs
Do they know drake songs like that? Maybe 1 or 2

But these kids know; Mockingbird, Without Me, My Name Is, The Real Slim Shady etc

That's 2 decades ago man and 8yr old still rap that s***

Yes Eminem was that f***in huge

    eminem easliy

  • Jul 18, 2024

How is that even a question? Its Em!

2011-2014 Drake is bigger than 2016-2018 Drake.

  • Very likely Eminem. Dude is still mostly riding off the reputation of MMLP and TES to this day. I personally feel like Eminem began falling off after TES, with Encore being the final swan song of albums from him that are actually enjoyable.

Im dating a girl from Mexico who doesn't speak English and I asked her if she knew who Dr. Dre is and she said no but I asked her if she knew who Eminem is and she said yes
