Xenophobia and Asians are the most casually discriminated against group in America. This was all true even before covid 19. Now it’ll be worse.

They aren’t seen as Asian in the eyes of the general public. It would be like throwing Russians in there.
Never feels right when people use aziz or kelly kapoor as Asian success stories.
Because asian american culture stresses education and kids are pretty obedient to their parents
they're not gonna drop out or anything to pursue something vague like acting/whatever
In India for example, even start-up careers in tech are looked down upon despite the talent for it there because students are expected to fit in and follow a typical career path.

their families also stress education

Muslims/Arabs.
For a long time the ones who got popping was ashamed to be Asian and just played black.
Nigahigga,Awkwafina,Timothy Delaghetto.
It's a weird thing and I'm not the best to explain it but as of late all of those creators are more into owning they culture so it's changed slightly.
Asians despite the success in tech and academics are underrepresented at the C suite level
Lot of them get hired for their grades and work ethnic, but their type A personality only extends to their grades and they weren't really social growing up 4.0 kids. They don't fit into the clique of competitive white guys who succeed at that level and are always just used for their technical abilities.
It's kind of the same for acting/music related careers, they need to carve out a place for themselves first (like they're doing in tech) then eventually other people will hop on their wave.
Just know one of the very first heartthrob actors in Hollywood was a Japanese man.

I feel like that’s the reason why asian men as so emasculated in movie roles now cause the whites prolly didn’t want that happening ever again..
I promise you even asian ppl who are into fashion prolly couldn’t tell you who half the ppl in this room are + designers are more lowkey/behind the scenes and not really in the spotlight like that.
I think op talking more music/film/tv

he looks like a normal dude
standards back then
That’s what I was getting at by casual. Not the MOST discriminated against. Obviously that’s black people. But discrimination against Asians is widely accepted and ignored meaning people can generally do it with minimal repercussions
