Interesting topic tbh, in sports id say a lot of American sports seem to require above average build and height for real success, and on average Asians are less likely to meet that criteria.

Not so sure about entertainment tho, is it just that these career paths are seen as less viable and culturally kids are dissuaded by parents from pursuing them?

There’s a similar thing with football (soccer) here in the U.K. Asians (of Indian/Pakistani/Bangladeshi heritage) are by far an away the largest non white immigrant group here, and many live in working class areas which are traditionally hotbeds for young football talent.

However there’s something crazy like only 1 or 2 people fully from this background (i.e. excluding mixed race white/Indians) have ever played at the top level, and there’s only a tiny amount of people from this background who’ve ever played professionally.

Conversely black British players of both Caribbean and African descent are probably statistically really over represented in football compared to the general pop.

Would be an interesting topic for a dissertation

Probably has something to do with resources available, although its interesting since Europe has soccer academies

Because white men have sexualized them to the point they’re only seen as accessories and praised almost purely for their intellectual skills and not typically seen as artistically marketable. Most people obsessed w asian culture are weird fetishizing niggas, even Asians in arts are seen as “sexy asian person doing art” with almost 0 merit for their talent. I’ve literally never seen an asian person who wasn’t sexualized af rather than have their talents focused on. They’re still seen as very foreign and not truly American. The emphasis will always be on their cultural origins as asian rather than truly being from the country they’re born and raised in

Aziz' show Master of None is a pretty good slice of life type tv show, one of the few Netflix TV shows that don't have the super obvious netflix style directing

Def asian men have it worst since asian females are more often fetishized
