Until the way music is consumed changes it’ll stay this way
why would it change
all of these except Honestly Nevermind have very weak uninspired songwriting, which doesn't lend itself well to dance music as a medium. no real emotionality, passion, grooves to latch onto either. compare those to Renaissance for example which has that in spades all over the album

only project here that was both inspired and is relatively interesting creatively, and the songwriting is better than the others. Tie That Binds alone clears

Massive lives up to its name
Crazy how DAWN FM doesn’t suffer from this
its great but is it really a dance album?
I feel like drake, tame and harry albums here all have the same issue. Really and stale and undercooked production, incohesive and boring songwriting and vocals. A song or two that stand out but the bulk of the songwriting is just directionless meandering s***. You can’t just throw 4 on the floor drums on something and have it = good dance music. The synths and instrumentation on all these are super sterile, thin and boring. There isn’t many sticky, catchy, instantaneous verses or hooks on any of these. The dance aesthetic/form feels like a crutch to just have long directionless empty unfocused detours that don’t feel or sound good.
Tyler album isn’t that good either but not sure if it’s issues are the same as the issues of the others
i think tyler's album doesn't fall under that criticism cus its a dance album in name rather than in practice imo
havent heard the harry one yet but the drake and tame impala ones are cool
definitely a letdown for tame tho

DANCE ALBUM, AS DANCE AS IT GETS IN 2025
the anti-HNVM agenda will never affect me because this song is better than all the other albums in OP combined

why would it change
You’d hope at some point people would realize paying a lifetime monthly fee for access to things they don’t own is bad.

lmao i have news for you
I was talkin to the homie bout this. I think its cause mainstream artists who dont usually make it dont have much context on dance music itself to make something exciting. Ppl like drake and the weeknd do which is why their dance albums at the very least felt inspired and had strong direction.
But it seems like most others just wanna make music ppl can dance to, not exactly dance music, or they only have a festival level knowledge and passion for it, so they dont have much framework to work from besides h&M s***
