Trash StarPeople are most likely talking about abolishing the system that hospitals abuse to make money, ie, charging thousands of dollars for medicine and basic care because it gets charged to the insurance company and not the individual. Which is inherently classist because if you can't afford insurance then you are left with tens of thousands of dollars of debt, or don't receive care because you know you can't afford it.
I highly doubt there are that many people out there saying that hospitals themselves should no longer exist.
It's the same thing as saying "abolish the police". Sure there are some anarchists and libertarians out there who think there shouldn't be a police force, but 99% of people who say "abolish the police" are talking about abolishing a system which gives the police too much power and freedom to harass and kill innocent people.

realistically would the average person rather go to
a mom and pop surgery and holistic medicine clinic
or a government ran, mandated and regulated hospital. prices would drop, quality would improve etc
the more i think about it the more a total abolishment/reform of hospitals sounds like a good idea

This makes more sense. I have never heard this so I am not familiar with it. We have to change our entire healthcare system. A capitalist healthcare system is a joke. People should be able to live and work without having to worry about if you get sick your entire life will get turned upside down and you could go bankrupt.
The saddest part is a lot of Americans claim to be religious, but they do not want to pay taxes to make such a system viable. They are under the assumption that they will never be in a bad position, so why should they give anyone else any money to make it work. IDk how our culture became so selfish and greedy, but it needs to stop so we can actually make progress.
