its less about them doing inevitable developments of technology (EV cars or shopping apps) and far more about the resources they exploit in the name of furthering their own power.

Humanity doesn't NEED amazon. Humanity especially doesn't NEED electric personal vehicles, considering our still present reliance on fossil fuels. Those are luxury goods in the grand scheme of things

what actually should be "done" for humanity is the provision of infrastructure, social progress, and true ownership, not only over the matters of their country in the name of democracy, but of their workplace over the value they clock in to create every day

But people like Musk and Bezos don't want that because it limits their own power

    Cringe post

Tesla is helping to move us onto sustainable energy and that is a good thing. They are also a piece of s*** company and these two things aren't mutually exclusive you weirdo.

    "Humanity doesn't need X"
    Like what?

Humanity doesn't need the NBA, I guess everyone who seeks out enjoyment in the NBA should just f*** off. Like what is this argument.

Humanity needs to find a way to limit global emissions and the push to sustainable vehicles is one of those means.

    What a dumb comment.

    "Humanity doesn't need Amazon"

???? The people who purchase goods off Amazon or utilize Amazon to make business transactions to maintain their livelihood need Amazon. Amazon is also a s*** company that needs to allow its workers to unionize

Some weirdo comment, talking about "HUMANITY DOESN'T NEED X".

Posting on KTT like the arbiter of Humanities wants and desires.

Also cringe to act like >Amazon and Tesla are the reason for all strife in the world< when they specifically occupy industries where their services are highly valued

Also these conversations are always dumb as hell because people moralize every single thing.

Does Bezos deserve his billions? Yeah, he created a company worth billions via legal means.

However (bolded for you illiterate people in the thread), it doesn't mean you can't increase his tax or limit loopholes that allow for excessive tax avoidance. Or find other ways of extracting wealth from the upper class.

Threads like these always go in some weirdo direction where people act like Amazon or Tesla just materialized and forced people to buy them when they provide a valuable service.

Same as Walmart did or any of these other megalomarts that centralized shopping instead of having people shop at 30 different stores.

Weirdos just scapegoat Bezos and Elon and then forget their governments were s*** long before they arrived.

F*** rich people, I live in the hood and can barely afford it even while serving my community as an occupation. My car note and rent destroy me monthly.

What the f*** are you laughing at. Lmao

Do you really think becoming a auccessful business person requires more talent than being an actor or musician?

You could argue that being a business person requires a certain amount of talent. Being smart could be a talent, making good business decisions could a talent. Just like how not everyone can be a singer or a rapper, not everyone can be a successful business person.

On the other hand, are entertainers like Khloe Kardashian or some of the women on “The Real Housewives” series talented? No.

Not saying business people don’t exploit but saying they aren’t talented is not correct, imo.

This isn’t true at all. Commerce has always existed lol. Get away from the buzzwords of attaching capitalism to everything.

Commerce/trade has always been apart of human life.

    Nope

  • Nov 18, 2021

Because rich business people get a larger amount of their wealth from exploitation in comparison to entertainers

most entertainers who become wealthy only do so after getting signed/pushed by/going into business with rich businesspeople so it seems clear who is the more effective target for expropriation via demonization
