i see this sentiment a lot of the time recently within the rap community
so many casual listeners are now complaining about or critiquing mixing
anyone else notice this?
mixing doesnt bother me unless my ears hurt or i cant hear u or the vocals are obnoxiously loud

They watch reaction YouTubers / reviewers probably
I don’t usually care about mixing, but it does matter regarding how big your s*** gets.
Simply being easier to listen to, and/or having a good hierarchy for the elements of the song that understands the strengths and why people are listening can make a big difference for more casual listeners.
People been hearing slight variations of the same 808s and autotune for so long now that people think they know what they “should” sound like
because back in the day you wouldnt hear a song that wasnt mixed by a professional
now you got every shmuck with fl studio able to put out music thats mixed like s***

Dude you could hear the quality in those early 2000's rap albums.
The G-Unit albums were so professionally put sound wise, it puts everything to shame mixing wise today.
Sad that now that most artists are recording their vocals on a couch with like 20 people around instead of a professional vocal booth, it's a shame really.
BOO NIGGA

outdated chart, the philosophy behind mixing bass has changed a lot since this was made
Most talk about mixing because of being fantanostylepilled and because the listener has become the critic as opposed to the enjoyer. No one know how to take a song in these days. Besides me, of course
not gonna hold u i don't see what op talking abt, i haven't seen someone complain abt mixing for a long ass time.

iconic chart tho
What’s a casual listener?
I see it as someone who just listens to music either in the background and/or now and again, but who doesn’t look up lyrics or really engage with it, beyond having it on because it sounds nice, or the lyrics in the chorus speak to them.
There is nothing wrong with this, but they have different listening habits, and different things are important to them.
They also outnumber the more hardcore listeners at least 20 to 1
