don't do it, i'm miserable
Wtf the synths have so much spaciousness on New Again
kanye's vocals sound like ass
i dont care about mixing but some mfers need to turn they snare down
i hate a loud ass snare that pierces my eardrums
mixing is technical and tricky. a lot of listeners who complain abt mixing are waffling and just want to sound smart. this has been true since forever; pretentious mixing complaints is definitely part of the annoying fantano/rym music nerd stereotype.
that being said, I don't actually see that very much these days. everyone knows the stereotype, but i feel like it's actually kinda rare to meet one of those people, especially on here.
disavowing that music nerd stereotype as vehemently as possible is part of ktt culture, let's be real. There's maybe like 2-3 ppl on here who actually do the annoying pretentious mixing complaints, but u will act like it's a swarm of them on here just so you can talk abt how much u oppose them.
very performative imo and definitely corny
i see this sentiment a lot of the time recently within the rap community
so many casual listeners are now complaining about or critiquing mixing
anyone else notice this?
mixing doesnt bother me unless my ears hurt or i cant hear u or the vocals are obnoxiously loud
I feel like if you are one of the biggest artists in the world, your vocals shouldn’t sound like you recorded with a sock over the mic
but I hear it again and again
I don’t complain about it unless it’s an artist whose vocals used to sound noticeably better
the short answer is bandlab and ye dropping albums with punch-ins from the iphone
and that nav verse on astroworld
ultimately the accessibility of recording wherever and however + anyone being able to distribute their own music has made the public more aware of the signs of what is done on high and low level in terms of mixing and even production
not necessarily a bad thing though

i think they sabotaged nav man
there was no reason for him to be that low. they HAD to have realized

I mean the real story is cash snuck nav onto the song while no one was in the studio which is why it came out like that
Respect the hustle but now since the drake diss I feel like cash was swinging an xo chain in front of travis’ face in the studio lobby for 15 mins for nav to punch it in
Just my theory
the biggest crime in mixing as of late was tell the vision Donda version.
i mean we know that they had pop smoke original vocals, but they chose to use a s***ty AI stem separator to split them from the OG song anyways. idk wtf the point of that was, they put a s***tier version of the vocals over a significantly worse instrumental lol
Mixing has always been important
Just a lot of people use the words mixing and mastering so they sound like they know what they’re talking about
retarded ass typing but tweet is spitting lol

did nav actually sneak into the studio for that
New again isn’t necessarily a bad mix. It’s just recorded poorly.
no it's pretty s*** from a technical standpoint past just weird recording technique
but i think w donda the sound ye was going for was over-processed AI-core tiktok stuff. think like fanmade carti remixes that were huge around that time. so a lot of the technical shortcomings are probably artistic choices and not just f***ups by the engineers.
did nav actually sneak into the studio for that
yes hahahahahaha that’s how he got on that song

i miss when ye would actually record in studios
