Seems like in the early 2000s it was still hush hush and mostly exclusive to hardcore lifting circles
Now it seems like every 18-21 year old is reading deeply into cycling methods and using steroids not even for lifting or bodybuilding competition but casual goals
Does anyone else observe this or agree? What is this systemic of ?
Society has shifted that way on alot of things like plastic surgery also people have become much more ok with people making life altering choices when they're 18 in that regard so
advertising and media pushing the idea that if you're not big and strong you're not a Real Man
it's a***ogous imo to the beauty standards women have been pushed towards with heavy makeup being normalized and surgical procedures being praised
It kinda sucks because I get the whole progressive argument argument these people aren't hurting anybody but it can't be good for society as a whole having people altering there bodies for whats often times mental health issues this normalized.
social media and reduced stigma
have not observed an increase in ppl actually using steroids no. but i would blame it on tiktok memes, and probably because steroids were more taboo in media back in the day in regards to baseball and some high profile olympic athletes.
social media and reduced stigma
I feel like people like Joe Rogan and Jeff Seid (for the aesthetic crowd) contributed a lot in regards to normalizing it
That mofo Seid has been using since he was 14 and probably influenced a lot of fitness influencers who popular on tik tok rn and open about steroids from a young age
don’t personally know anyone irl on roids but def super mainstream
idc what anyone does with their own bodies tho
just gotta be safe and smart
social media and reduced stigma
sm a big player in all this fs

Dont see how that argument is progressive tbh

nah not joe lol
I'm not sure that they are being used more now than before
idk man you cant go on fitness reddit youtube or tiktok without seeing a huge part of the community promoting roids
obviously idk what the usage was back in the day but idk how something like steroids could be that easily marketed towards young people getting into working out
i also dont think theres a chance it could be easier for people to get on steroids than it is now

its never been easier that fs
Don't steroids have really bad side affects?
Enlarged heart is probably the most dangerous one
Enlarged heart is probably the most dangerous one
So the shrunken testicles is a myth?
So the shrunken testicles is a myth?
No it happens too but it’s not that dangerous
a lot more bodybuilders/youtubers/influencers are being open about their steroid use and talking about their cycles. i don't really even watch a whole lot of that type of content and i get recommended videos on youtube from chris bumstead talking about his cycle. i don't use tiktok but i know people talking about steroids and cycles on there is also really popular. i think because of that it's just been heavily destigmatized. that and people are more aware that steroids aren't these mythical potions that can only be obtained through secret means, any commercial gym is gonna have at least one guy with connections to gear.
i don't really think there's anything wrong with people using gear but i think being on it when you're in your early-mid 20's is almost certainty not healthy
No it happens too but it’s not that dangerous
Isn’t that bad for fertility and stuff?
def lies not so much in the promotion of it as it does in the none-promotion against it.
in main stream culture, i dont think there has been any real push to using roids. there is a health craze atm, but i don't think that also means ppl are running to roids.
early 2000s tho the MLB purged roid users hard, and if you followed sports at all, you were exposed to the media's smearing of those who used it and the stigma it created. "cheaters" "bad for health" "gives you a small peepee"
you don't see much of that smearing anymore cause there's no controversy about it in mainstream media.
and so i really doubt the numbers would show some insane spike in roid users, but maybe im wrong
Isn’t that bad for fertility and stuff?
It is but it’s not lethal and after you cycle off you’d micro dose testosterone until your natural production has recovered
