man i held out on myspace as long as i could my custom css... my playlist.... gone like tears in rain
internet being slower was better tbh
yall will say anything is better because it happened in the past
i was too young when it was poppin but it seemed like a cool idea
They started making changes to turn it into a music centric platform with weird features that didnt have anything to do with why people used it while tumblr took myspace’s formula and put it on steroids with a better aesthetic and nudity allowed. Time also just passed and people seemed to switch from myspace to facebook anyway before tumblr really went crazy
How
It was bloated as hell.
The reason fb really popped off was because how clean and minimalistic it was.
the idea of the feed that facebook brought to social media.
On myspace we were all contained to just our profile with the occassional mood status that you could update.
The feed allowed for my sharing and conversation
Alot of us was using myspace and facebook simultaneously. Tumblr came in and completely replaced all that until IG came
Essentially. Facebook capitalized on minimalism in a time where it was ironically niche at the time. That and there was some mismanagement on the part of MySpace. Fun fact Zuck took fb to MySpace to buy it but they declined
Myspace buying Facebook and tucking it in before it turned into the monstrosity it is today would have prevented a lot of damage 😔
it was the best, better than twitter, IG, FB, tiktok all that
the music industry just didn't have their business sorted out
and it was pre streaming, everybody could upload and add songs on their page
you could code it with html and css too so when someone goes on your page they immediately hear your music myspace was actually so wavy wish i was able to experience it
To have some loud ass soulja boy blast from my speakers as soon as I went into a page, and that sensual experience would immediately be coupled by a blinding multi colored background with an essay long bio in an unreadable font
It’s just an internet that’s impossible to describe to anyone that’s only used the sterile flash-deprived landscape we have now
i barely remember that internet era but i miss it before everything was so unique now it’s like all just the same profile just a different name

We may be making a marginal return to gaudy individualism with Apple basically allowing complete customization of the iPhone’s wallpaper and the success of these flip Android phones
With how much of a piece phones are of a person’s identity nowadays, I think this is a good positive step. A social media upheaval would be next hopefully
They completely f***ed up and lost a s***load of data right around the time their competitors started making a name for themselves

yeah not using a phone case and having a unique lock screen has been like part of my appeal or personality people say it makes me different
as far as social media idk. as someone who’s a software developer it makes sense to make it as streamlined as possible and give everyone the same profile and put less focus on that and more focus on driving them to put s*** out and consume it and just keep them consuming more posts we’re kinda done with longform internet
zuck straight stole facebook they should’ve told us that from the beginning he wouldn’t have had all this power if we told that dude to get lost for stealing someone’s idea
in another life he’s one of these guys running four figure group buys for leaked music
my mom had an account for me when i was a kid, now i have spacehey
I was thinking of checking that app out, how is it compared to my space, instagram, and twitter? - what do you like bout it
MySpace is the Nicki Minaj of social media.
Facebook is Iggy Azealia.
Twitter and Instagram is Cardi B.
that would mean that MySpsce is still around and that FB is still relevant in some places
