Just peep how much smoother Nas sounds when a DJ fixed the Cops Shot the Kid beat
!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6Uc-nUqwsEDefinitely see the difference but I don’t think the original is all that bad tbh
I think ye had those beats and didn’t know who to put on them and randomly asked nas. It doesn’t fit at all.
Yep. The album didn't even have a Nas album sound lmao
That Queensbridge sound
Well nothing wrong with that to me, need some development
Definitely see the difference but I don’t think the original is all that bad tbh
Nas has made songs like Cops Shot the Kid before anyway
Nas - Cops Keep Firing
Nah it's dope. Kills the OG easily.
It doesn't. It makes it sound extremely cheap. And while I don't agree fully with Kr0niic's post, it's definitely obvious Nas had no idea what to do with the OG beat, which is fine because it didn't suit him. A lot of the the instrumentals didn't.

I mean I think he knew what to do with the beats but just didn’t write enough then cut off the excess to be left with some quality stuff

The OG beat wasn't fully developed, sounded unfinished and uncooked and makes for a rough listen even as an "experimental" beat it's just not good enough. The remix is way better. That's all.
Ye was busy running around with a red hat making a clown out of himself instead of focusing on the Nas album

It's been said a few times that Nasir was basically just Kanye making beats that he wanted to hear Nas on. Probably wasn't all that collaborative. All that said, I much prefer Nasir.
I jus think Ye does crazy s*** with samples. Like his ear for s*** is wild. No disrespect to Hitboy cause he also is a great producer but idk I just enjoy the beats on Nasir more even if KD is better

All I’m saying is Daytona exists so Nas really didn’t have any excuses. If all the albums were mid as f***, then we would have more of an argument.
Also it’s insane that Push didn’t get a verse on that Nas album

Hoh, DAYTONA wasn't made in like 3 days just to fulfill a contract.
Producers like Dre, Pharrell, Just Blaze and yes Kanye.. don't just make beats. They also mentor the rapper and get him to sound how they wish to fulfill a vision.
So it's all Ye's fault bro. Anyone who denies it is a blind stan.

I guess I don’t know all the logistics behind it all tbh. I understand that a lot of producers do that and I don’t think any of us know to the extent of how involved Ye was in those decisions. Push did talk about it from his perspective but it could have been an entire different situation for Nas.
However, saying Nas is absolved of fault is still stan behavior though too lol. At the end of the day, Nas been doing this for decades and should be able to rap over any beat and sound amazing. He just didn’t hit the mark in that regard.

Ye said about Nasir that producing is like being a janitor and it's a service job
He did Nas a disservice with that s*** but it's w/e
The only rapper I've ever heard who can flow effortlessly over any beat no matter how weird or bad it is is Method Man

Biggie?

Yeah Ye stupid as f*** for that if that’s the case lol
I think Push definitely can rap over anything. Obviously bias but he rapped with Pharrell for a decade who doesn’t exactly make textbook beats. Not to mention he had said he intentially raps over beats no one else would.
I also think Freddie Gibbs can rap over anything. I think there are a lot of rappers who are versatile enough to rap over any type of track imo

Such a hard song bro.
Whole album is a prime example of that. Suicide another great example of a weird/obscure beat that Push absolutely destroys (probably my favorite rap song ever tbh)
I actually like Nasir. But yeah Nas also has to take some blame for it not being as good as it could have, there are also beats in Nas' discography where it really doesnt sound great (although this might be due to them not aging well as I didnt listen to his 2000s discography when they came out) so I dont think he has an elite ear for beats.
wtf is this thread rn. y'all genuinely feel nasir is better than kings disease ?
Kanye stans bro. Since Ye touched it, it’s automatically better
