i think you have to actually produce to progress as a producer

Because he's hasn't been hands on with the production since forever. Shouting at someone to make it darker doesn't count as hands on. That travis video is probably the first time in years he loaded up a DAW

so you telling me Hendrix wasn't born shredding on the guitar?

now fr, it's clear Travis doesn't need to produce songs anymore when he can have no name producers on the internet send him beats that'll land him #1 songs for free.

plus he's got the cash to bring any top tier producer into sessions and create whatever soundscape he's felling while he's on his 50th trip of the day.

people who still bring Travis production skills to the table do it because they simply don't know enough.

that first tyler vid is not progression

I think most people know he's basically DJ Khaled at this point esp after the sicko mode reference track leak since that was trending all over twitter when it came out.

but even look at the old beats that we think he did. i just really cant believe someone was making those kind of literal kanye album tier beats BEFORE they were signed.

and THEN they just never produced a beat again besides helping and working on his beats with other people?

like he MUST've bought those beats or something and then just said he did them and the producers were cool with it.

what he does now with the curation of producers aspect is amazing, but idk i never bought it

i mean love$ick, illamerica, animal, night, momma be trippin, a***ogue, gifted beat, og owl pharoah intro.

like theyre very very technical and sonically interesting and not beginner beats at all

such crazy expensive and professional producer sounding string and synth passages, great mixing, cool and great melodic and chord moments. someone who would really play piano/keys. technical drum fills and s***.

Travis never been a producer, he is a curator like Rick Rubin.

Rodeo and Astroworld>>>>>any Tyler project that isnt FB

  • Sep 6, 2020

it really doesn't seem like travis is actually making that beat in the video. he's using a synth in the beginning like its a midi controller to chop a sample but it doesn't actually look like he's doing anything to the sample, it just sounds like a loop over one droning note, plus the drums he plays on the mpc are somehow perfectly in time even though he doesn't use a metronome. He might have done it off camera and just acted like he was doing it live for the video but its definitely not real

may be he isn't that good at making beats, we didn't hear much to tell.
