it's not about "have to". his death was a way for the people of the time to understand what is happening in a tangible way. previously they atoned for sins by sacrificing a lamb. jesus died as the last lamb and no more lambs had to be sacrificed, it acted as a metaphor. additionally he came to earth in human form to display to the humans that he understands their nature and build common ground. etc

ultimately though i think its dumb and makes no sense whatsoever to try to apply your own logic to what a god might do

Doesn't make it any more believable to think he was a prophet imo.

Yeah it's really just that simple. God be all of em but they don't be each other. It's a logical nightmare that christians tend to reconcile with faith. Tend to find a whole lotta faith in abrahamic religions.

yeah as a muslim a big part of the religion is definitely the faith of believing, some things dont really have proof and thats the thing i guess u just need to have faith and believe without proof, bc if there was proof everyone would believe it and no one would be different or something i guess

Its a paradox, paradoxes exists in nature.

Like you mean how if there's nothing particularly unique about Earth, then there should be lots of alien civilizations in our galaxy. However, we've found no evidence of other intelligent life in the universe.

I've heard of a lot of man made paradoxes put forth by philosophers and the like. This is the first "natural" one I could think of. And it's not necessarily a paradox due to the assumption that we are not unique. Could be we're a total fluke. Or that we have been created.

thanks @OP for making this thread i've been pondering this same question lately

  • Oct 29, 2020

there were centuries of debate over this question specifically so it's a good question to ask

the western teachings of christianity/protestants are the most toxic s*** ever

Protestants/catholics believe god is a bearded man in the sky that throws sinner in a pot of fire for f***s sake.

I've seen protestants claim that your life will be all roses and petals if you '''accept christ''.....they even wear gold chains and drive bmws while ''preaching'' bout poverty

    yeah, f*** all that

also, most atheists dont reject God.

They just reject the God of pseudo-morality and cruelty society told them to believe in

he asked about jesus being the son of god
