"Black people should really focus on the homophobia/transphobia within their community."

homophobia is a global problem

how is that the same as "more homophobic than other races" though?

It's not the same, but it's implied.

i can maybe get that if it's someone of another race who deflects on their own responsibility to just say "black people should focus on their own problems"

but if it's a black person sayin that, which is usually the case that I at least see when i come across someone making a suggestion to black people's "own community", then that seems like a reach to assume they think their race is more homophobic bc of some kinda call to self-inquiry

I’m telling y’all niggas, y’all don’t see that many white LGBTQ hate crimes because them niggas have the sense/means to go live with their own kind in gentrified areas which many Black LGBTQ folks can’t afford, trust me in small white towns them niggas would do the same thing if there was trans people there.

On top of this, almost all anti-Gay legislation passed in the U.S. is from White Evangelicals and Conservative groups such as Jay Sekulow, Focus on The Family, etc.

Even White shows like South Park and Family Guy have poked fun at gays casually and Eminem is one of the most homophobic rappers OAT.

And Atlanta is one of the "gayest" cities in the U.S. and considered a Black mecca. And a Gay rapper from ATL just got a number 1 song today lmao.

I think it all boils down to the stereotype of Black Men being these ultra macho, hyper-masculine brutes. Being anti-gay feeds into this stereotype and leads to more fear of us.

Other races are seen as more sensitive and caring so people naturally assume that they'll be more accepting of Gays despite the stats showing that there isn't much of a diffference.

Should Blacks strive to be more accepting of the LGBT? Most def but so should everyone else.

Trans people are already more likely to be homeless/unsheltered because of discrimination. It’s not like these people have the means to just move as they please. The people being affected are typically young, broke and already victimized in one way or another.

Whites didn't bring homophobia here it always existed. There's a lot of places of every race where homophobia is way worse than here.
Homophobia predates Western imperialization and it effects places where they didn't colonize.

lol many countries were already homophobic. while homophobia was strong in europe, the majority of homophobic norms pre existed. cant blame everything on the past even if some things can be. youre talking about india and the third gender sure but not every colony was india, many were already homophobic
