Wasn’t even saying that but what’s masculine about Tyler the Creator or Saba’s music?
At least Billy Woods and Ka I’ll give you have “typically” masculine themes but the two niggas above feel like they’d appeal to rap fans with more soft palates
They’re clearly kinda soft rap and people who like them tend to reflect that give or take. Not saying every trap fan is masculine but in my neck of the woods, if niggas wanna perform masculinity they bumping some trap s***.
I will admit hella yung lean and 6 dogs fans could be legitimately nerdy dudes and probably some of the least athletically gifted and physically blessed out of the general rap audience including myself. I fall readily into that stereotype. Have you ever heard people like what appeals to their own traits or sense of self? That’s what appeals to me nigga get over it.
I’m not saying them niggas like Saba or Tyler or whatever not even attractive athletic niggas they are. And their fans be hella extroverted. They also might often be gay or women or maybe even straight attractive men such as yourself. Cool. No skin off my back. Hop off my d***.
Also I never said lyrical so once again, total misrepresentation and you heard whatever you wanted to hear based off your perceptions of me you don’t take me seriously cause I’m not American, I don't take your opinion on me seriously cause you are. Americans love placing American standards on non American people and playing that game of “hey look at the loser”. I’m from a literally super non woke country and I’m probably woke by the majority of my countries’ standards. F*** that bro even by American standards I’m woke but niggas like putting labels on me cause they read a few things they didn’t like on f***ing ktt2
To get to my final point, I never said lyrical rap wasn’t masculine just certain variations of it but you thought I f***ing said lyrical dumbass. I was talking about Tyler the Creator not f***ing Mobb Deep or Nas you idiot. And again, I’ll admit there’s nothing masculine about f***ing 6 dogs or Yung lean other than they have weirdo rap that mostly appeals to stupid loser looking niggas like me. That’s it. Now go f*** yourself
dude typed out 3-4 essays justifying his reason for rejecting conscious music/lyrical rap, by essentially saying he can’t live vicariously through it, and it’s “feminine”
makes me wonder why people like this even have their sense of hearing, give that s*** to someone else man

this is being obtuse
I don't feel like some users not being into that type of music and some joking about it being dusty warrants this type of thread. By and large the site supports music like that. Like you can't open a thread for 5 seconds without someone telling you to listen to Billy Woods or Mavi or someone like that. People on here swear down albums like some rap songs or let the sun talk are the greatest rap albums of all time. Kendrick's followup to damn was probably a top 5 most hyped and in demand album on this site ever. I don't know what more you can want really

Sounds like you read it and only partially understood my point. Crazy after trying to act cool based off mild illiteracy and laziness. I’ve read f***ing big ass books man I just don’t like lyrical rap that much
Is it that hard to accept?

You're kidding
You're way more likely to see people doing promo for Yeat or Destroy Lonely on this site than someone like Billy Woods
I don’t care about how so many niggas try to force lyrical s*** on everyone else. If you like that s*** cool, if you don’t cool. Who the f*** cares? Go get b****es or sumn. I’m indifferent at this point.
I feel like ktt users are constantly fighting ghosts on this subject lol is conscious rap not mostly loved here? Like op said “ktt called tpab preachy” When? Tpab is like this sites favorite album lol
no it’s not man, stop it
anything that isn’t trap/drill music adjacent it’s dismissed as scaring the hoes music or dusty, anyone that tries to put effort into their music beyond standard d**** guns and perc talk is considered “fake woke” or “fake deep”

no one is reading allat
i only like it if it sounds really good overall and the beat and the flows and delivery are fye. A lot of conscious rappers put all their focus on the bars and the rest is lacking, they like rapping on dusty ass beats a lot of the time. I dont care if you got the greatest bars of all time if the song overall doesnt actually sound good enough to make me want to listen to it again
no one is reading allat
all of that to basically distill down to “i can’t listen to music other than trap music because it doesn’t make me feel manly”
buddy needs to go deepthroat a shotgun sumwhere
no one is reading allat
The same nigga who first made that joke still ended up reading it so it doesn’t work anymore you dusty ass f***. Not that it ever did

What country are you from G?
What country are you from G?
I’m keeping it a secret cause y’all judgmental but it’s a very poor one
Conscious rappers are often just far too willing to let the listenability of their music suffer to service what they think is the message the listener needs to here. This often feels very preachy, but also, if I'm being honest, whatever they're trying to communicate is just not that good or insightful.
Why would I listen to a rapper over, say, read Dostoyevsky or something like this? None of them, whether they're discussing the human condition or some social issue, have surpassed the greats in other mediums. I'd much rather throw on a high tier Wayne tape, I think things like this highlight the strengths of rap better.
This isn't to say that there aren't conscious rappers that I think manage to ride the line of conscious messaging and listenability- Mos Def is in my top 3 oat and The Ecstatic is my favorite rap record. It's just not a very common skill.
Lyrical rap idiots have to understand it’s not their genre anymore, it’s everybody’s genre. There I said it
I know y’all gonna talk s*** or whatever but that’s how f***ing music evolved over time. All that lyrical s*** now either underground or reduced to the hands of a few niggas like Kendrick who I’m a fan of btw
But yeah I ain’t even being chill anymore cause b****ass niggas with a 90s hard on wanna hate. F*** y’all.
This is what Christopher Columbus said when he got to the Americas
I’m keeping it a secret cause y’all judgmental but it’s a very poor one
I'm not that invested in the arguement here but it's interesting how non-americans may prefer 'non-conscious' rap

Yeah it’s not even that deep. Tbh six nine still gets play in my country and I’m sure in other places as well other than the US cause we’re not all invested in y’all’s cultural hang ups like that. We bump the music cause it’s there simple. It’s crazy arrogant to expect everyone to care about YOUR culture. F*** you.
Oh brother
Not another thread crying about why no one listened to TPAB or Mr. Mid
What’s the disconnect with understanding that they were mediocre projects.

This is a Kendrick song to a tee
Like this is almost the equivalent of when niggas in the day used to say Freddie Mercury is better than lady Gaga to random kids and try to treat it like them kids had to care. Maybe they just wanted to listen to Lady Gaga but niggas wanted to turn music into an I’m smart competition.
