The biggest misconception about music is that it has to bring something new to the table or bee some groundbreaking thing in order for it to be good

Music, like any other art form, can be mindless and should be at times. Sometimes you need to just put something on that’s not necessarily “good” but CB’s standards and just enjoy it for what it is, if you enjoy it

I agree. But I’m saying she makes bad music.

She can barely sing. What special quality does she have as an artist?

Thank you. Barely any artist actually bring something new to the table. Yeah there are some phenomenal dancers who can dance their butt off and some great singers who can sing just about everyone else under the table, but if we're talking about actual music, I can't think of anyone right now who's pushing or revolutionizing the actual sound of music which is perfectly okay. A song doesn't have to be the "first of its kind" to be an amazing song. An artist doesn't have to be a genius to make good music. OP dead wrong on this one

You’ve misunderstood. I don’t expect anyone to be groundbreaking. But I expect the biggest female artist alive to at least have a good voice or some really memorable performances

But that's beside the point of making good music or liking music in the first place. Being a good singer or performer doesn't make your music have better quality

But the thing is that’s all subjective. I don’t think Taylor has a good voice per se but she has a good enough voice that draws people into it for one reason or the other.

That’s actually been a thing nowadays I think people are attracted to whatever they hear in someone’s voice whether it’s technically or objectively good at all. Ricky Hil is a good example because that dude honestly sucks as a singer but I enjoy the sound of his voice enough to the point where I want to hear more

Being serious cause the thread seemed sincere at least-

    1) I don't commend such artists

    2) I don't care about Taylor Swift, don't hate her, don't like her. I did listen to Folklore though to judge for myself (the only other two I've listened from her being Red and 1989)

    3) Yes a lot of great music stays under the radar, its tragic at times but all I can do is enjoy it/spread it when I can or want to. Popularity often correlates to how much they fit the mainstream/what amount of push they receive/their personality and whether they can attract and keep a following. Many other variables too ofc

    4) Fan of music

    Have a nice day op

To each their own then. I’m not lining up to hear Drake sing a ballad though.

Technical ability when singing isn’t really subjective. But I guess tone and inflection are.

she tried to change her sound and her whole image a bit too much and then came right back to where she was before, very odd

It's crazy tho cuz everyone bashed Reputation and it still sold like 1.3 mil first week

Usher does nothing original or groundbreaking but, like Chris, he’s immensely talented at singing and forming melodies.

I’m not talking about artists like that. I’m talking about unoriginal and talentless artists
