But now Midsommar, Uncut Gems, AND The Lightouse all get NO Oscar love? Wtf.

Am I missing something? Coz most of these movies see decent success and are met with near universal praise year in and year out?

Coz I was sitting down watching Parasite yesterday and it’s good but like, it doesn’t have an Uncut Gems ending moment, y’know? It doesn’t have a Willem Defoe monologue! It doesn’t have a cliff suicide scene. Very mediocre albeit well made film imo.

I believe A24 on the other hand is challenging the bare concepts of filmmaking with every single release

neither midsommar nor uncut gems are "a24 films". wouldn't call lighthouse a "full a24" film either, although they hepled producing it, so they deserve some credit.

The issue we should all be discussing here is how A24 is quickly turning into the Disney of indie studios.
