Best horror movie since The Shining imo. At LEAST since The Conjuring

Aster is truly a genius at making everyday life seem horrific before he even gets to the traditional horror elements of his films

only one in OP that deserved any award was everything from uncut gems and lighthouse (especially dafoe and eggers as a director)

Ahh so A24 doesn’t play the d*** sucking politics games. Makes sense

Coz I was sitting down watching Parasite yesterday and it’s good but like, it doesn’t have an Uncut Gems ending moment, y’know? It doesn’t have a Willem Defoe monologue! It doesn’t have a cliff suicide scene. Very mediocre albeit well made film imo.

I believe A24 on the other hand is challenging the bare concepts of filmmaking with every single release

How does A24 change anything outside of film circulation/production expectations. They are good at making indie films w mainstream appeal, but I feel like maybe you the one ‘playing d*** sucking games’ tbh

Great movie but I see it as more black trauma p***. Beautiful beautiful film and a story that needed to be told fasho.

    But mad unpopular opinion here:

La La Land was f***ing robbed. Periodt boo

Black trauma p*** that skips over the main character’s period of incarceration? Doesn’t make much sense but ok

Yea but let’s be real Moonlight was the most forced and insincere Oscar win ever. Up there with Leo winning for the revenant.

Waves literally kinda screams OSCAR BAIT kind of and got nothing

the movie could’ve reached its potential with a black director I think

    recycled post

Jimmy himself told me to recycle his words like he does his aluminium cans.

A24 deserves more academy recognition but it doesn't really matter. The academy is so and so

It's because they're not LA dude. Pretty sure they're based out of east coast right and Hollywood runs the Oscars no?

i definitely dont disagree but at the same time, i feel like having a white director also aided in making the films more universal, its always good to have a healthy balance of films that will relate to black people and a movie with black characters that everyone can relate to
I especially loved the movie cuz it wasn't especially about black trauma, just trauma through the lens of black characters

Lmfao bro if you can’t see how those 3 films challenged modern filmmaking as an art form then you just don’t know movies

I let it slide after Hereditary and Mid90s got NO recognition.

But now Midsommar, Uncut Gems, AND The Lightouse all get NO Oscar love? Wtf.

Am I missing something? Coz most of these movies see decent success and are met with near universal praise year in and year out?

So why does the Academy hate A24?

Because A24 doesnt have a lot of money. Thats literally the only reason why

Yea it is a real post. Kid just follows me around from thread to thread making s*** up about me when he should be swallowing his own c**

  • ThuggerBaby

Ain’t they literally give Moonlight BP?

Those movies you named would never be the type of movies to get Oscar attention

    Lady bird got nominations too

  • Campari

WAVES only really could've gotten a nod for cinematography and even then Deakins had it on lock.

Would've liked to see Sterling K Brown get some recognition but Best Supporting was too stacked

Yea stacked cus Tom Hanks somehow was a lead in a movie yet slid into A supporting nom
