my point was that the song has the worldwide recognition necessary to be a classic. its an anthem for a generation of underprivileged people and just happens to be universally acclaimed and well known as well. you disliking it doesnt make it not a classic. if music is really subjective then whyd you even question me calling it a classic, its an opinion according to you right? if i fart into a mic it wont sound as good as radiohead lol there is some objectivity to music tpab is clearly BETTER than a large majority of music that is a fact

TPAB is a black classic because it resonates with mostly african americans.

TPAB as a hip hop album is not a classic. No one will listen to this garbage album 15 years from now! Just because its well known and acclaimed doesn't make it a classic especially if it hasn't shifted music and the album came out 4 years ago. a 4 year old album and you're calling it a classic. 808s and Heartbreak is a classic. TPAB is not!

Also he’s nowhere near as controversial of an artist as Kanye is so that plays a huge factor too.

the only thing arguable about the album is kendrick's delivery, but asides from that its a masterpiece.

you can show this album to any musician that doesnt listen to hip hop and they'll s*** their pants with the production.

nah that deep, raspy, lowkey tortured, weary voice was his best voice. even then bro switched it up like 10 times anyways lol.

It released at a time where racial tensions were high. Even though imo the albums not that deep, ‘Alright’ and more tracks were prominent in woke culture.

The musical elements and parties involved created a great atmosphere and it was the polar opposite of the hostile takeover of the trap and future / drake styles.

Kendrick and his team stayed rooted in black history, not just thematically but musically as well. Opening up with George Clinton... James Brown, Dj Quik and Suga Free influence on King Kunta... these walls so on, so forth.

It’s a great album and it respects history

tpab is not a classic if we are talking about production.

it's just jazz influenced rap music which Tribe Called Quest popularized and perfected in the 90s bro. Tribe is a classic!

TPAB is not! (same w/ views) Both boring ass albums!

Eh what made the album is both. Which is why it got 10/10 across board. And besides everyone who worked with kendrick during that time said he was extremely hands on with the production anyways. Dont see a reason for them to lie either

they are both jazz influenced album and they take different parts of the jazz era. TPAB is more Jazz / Funk is why is sounds different BUT theme is still there - JAZZ!

and tribe made better jazz rap albums
