I’ll be the one to say it this dude literally only being heralded as if he’s the next Aphex Twin cause he’s white
fill me in if there’s any other possibility because, I listened to some of his music a bit earlier and it’s nothing to write home about. niggas acting like Safe in the hands of Love didn’t come out 4 years ago. But apparently THIS is what saved electronic music, and is what music as a whole needed… interesting. 
People are comparing him more to Burial and Four Tet over Aphex Twin and it's fairly accurate

From a pioneer standpoint Burial deserves that, nothing wrong with it, but to say he doesn't make similar music at points is wild

I think you’re right on the money though, it’s people with lack of exposure to different genres that are being quick to big him up
Like half the people I’ve seen on this site claiming these absurd ass statements are well known Drake stans who routinely s*** on 99% of the music that isn’t him, I’m not exactly looking to them for their opinion on anything outside of rap
I’m convinced these people are being paid. It happens so commonly on this site and I’ve seen at least 10 threads in the last month where they’re verbatim talking bout bro saved music. Niggas had the audacity to get upset when I enter it and say this was just normal mainstream ass s*** and they need to delve much deeper into electronic music if this is what they’re losing their s*** over because it’s truly not even remotely on the level of any of the greats. Not everything has to be experimental. Jamie XX is barely outside of the box when it comes to music and he's loved. Fred is in a similar lane to him
Coming from someone who's heard basically all the mainline Aphex Twin albums, I'd rather listen to Fred's sound for the most part. Aphex's sound is also dated now in alot of ways.
Just because you have some knowledge on electronic music doesn't mean you have to try and tear this down

I don’t see it but then again I only listened the set and a few songs…only vague similarity is the use of vocal splices, even than he doesn’t approach sampling in a way similar to how Burial would

im not saying i buy into the hype like some others itt but i think its clear a big part of the hype is from his dj sets and not just his production
although yes he is just playing a lot of his stuff in his dj set but i think the stage personality + built up attitudes of people desperate to dance after covid is contributing to the hype
