I think if they play their cards right they can be a prominent figure in the underground

They already are
And not this
!https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=jhlW9UgfF5AWtf is this
it just made me think
this is off his own money, this is just a Griselda record
IMAGINE WHAT THE SHADY DEBUT IS GOING TO SOUND LIKE
he aint done a track with Dre or Kanye yet so you know those have gotta be goals too, esp with Virgil cosign and they already met Kanye and Gunn talks to him daily now
wasnt WWCD their shady debut?
I'll be real with you. As much as I like and appreciate what Griselda does, if you grew up with New York gangster rap of the late 80s, 90s, 2000s, then Griselda is really nothing more than a revival of that.
Griselda is something like what Pro Era was in the early 2010s. A revival of dusty boom-bap beats and lyrics. Stuff like this is always going to get praise from the OGs as these are the essential pillars of hip-hop. They "restore the feeling". This time around however, it's on a much larger scale thanks how big streaming has gotten. Giving people more access.
So while I have yet to hear a Westside Gunn, Benny, or Conway project I dislike, and I do respect and love the movement, I really cannot help but roll my eyes at posts like the OP, or the constant screams of "IT'S THE CULTURE! Y'ALL DON'T KNOW ABOUT THE CULTURE! THIS IS ART NOT RAP!" It's like please give it a rest...y'all are simple rap era revivalists. There are MANY like Griselda out there, and have been out there for years. There's nothing wrong with that. Calm down.
I think Griselda vs Pro Era is more than bigger access and platform tho. Pro Era got like over 10 members and niggas were only really checkin for 2-3 max whereas Girselda's got 3 members and they're all pretty good rappers.
I also think Griselda's got the advantage of being more lyrical in a less lyrical time in hip-hop so that definitely helps them stand out.
I agree with most of ur post tho
Never have we seen a startup from the ground up built that has unified the culture in such a way. These guys have done things other rappers have tried to do for decades in half the time. Never before have we had West coast, East coast, Southern, Canadian artists give so much respect and come together with each other to make music, show love, and push the game forward artistically and musically.
You may not notice it or think the impact or the introspect is that deep, but I promise if you take a closer look, you'll appreciate these guys individually and as a whole a lot more. Westside Gunn catches a lot of flak for his voice but what you cannot deny is that he has some catchy ass lines and an unmatched work ethic. He has an ear for beats and great business acumen. And once you realize that he is a persona and get over his voice, you will start to realize that his music is much better than you give it credit for. Once you dig into the background and the culture of Buffalo, d*** dealing, and prison life, you'll realize there is a lot more substance to these bars than surface level. It is simplistic but packs so much punch at the same time.
This is what hip-hop is all about. Coming from nothing and creating everything from it. This in itself is a blueprint that will be studied for generations to come once all is said and done.
Chinegun, we did it
Thank god for D*** Dealin

lolit was before 90% of ktt was born and calls wat they think is good music now
This Westside Gunn project is the first I ever heard from them because I don't like niggas from Buffalo but its nice b
Lmaoooooo
Griselda is pretty overrated on the internet. Talk about consistency when they make the same song over and over again. They aren't special at all just 90s nyc rap all over again but average. Benny cool tho
"Make the same song over and over again"
This your first time listening to rap music?
wasnt WWCD their shady debut?
Conway and WSG both have solo debuts otw. WSG just started on his and Conway's is almost finished (God Don't Make Mistakes)

i feel like im the only one who thinks his voice makes him better
i feel like im the only one who thinks his voice makes him better
when I first started listening to him it wasnt offputting to me like it is others, but i agree, his voice stands out to me in a good way
you right OP a rap group is a new concept and we’ve never seen anything like it before
you right OP a rap group is a new concept and we’ve never seen anything like it before
i must not be too far from the truth considering DEHH said pretty much the same thing during the PFP review.
im sorry but westsides gunn sucks ass and they just sound like a rip off of roc marciano and generic 90s rap
Overrated af,would’ve been just another underground act around 2010-2013
they were just another underground act at that time. They've been making music since the early 2000s.
Read the first sentence and scrolled tbfh. This just some
East Coast/NY bias bs
I much prefer West coast music over NY or East coast music lol...
