They are cool, but no one of them is an amazing rapper. Put Method Man or Nas on a track with those guys and they get washed.

Benny held his own with black thought, pusha and jadakiss. No way these niggas getting washed by nas and method man these days lol

Yea me too but I’m saying these dudes not just some lil niggas that can’t hang with great rappers

In 2020 Nas and Meth MIGHT catch them on a track. It could go either way. Those Griselda niggas really rap

They are good rappers but some ppl hype them up too much just bc they're a new act.

Here's a modern day The LOX track. You can't tell me Griselda make better s*** than this:

It ain’t even that, groundbreaking and pushing the genre “forward” is what I’m talkin about

They hard and all, they talk and flow fly you know, I get why people fw it heavy but all that extra things they’ve been saying idk where it’s comin from

what I mean is, we have never seen a rapper or a group of rappers get as much praise and as many cosigns from other rappers from both coasts, midwest, south, and even canadian artists like Griselda has. We have not seen a group bring together everything that they do into one package, and do it so cleanly and consistently in the time it took them once they came together.

I’m not saying they’re a top 3 rap group oat but their production choices is partially why I’d rather hear them over The Lox in 2020. They’re a new act. People are gonna check them out over some 90s rappers that’s been doing worse versions of the same style for 2 decades

And I’m not saying this bc of the hype machine. My boy put me on to them in 2015 way before they were making noise

I disagree only because they didn't use any samples on the whole thing

but from every other point that's fair

Yeah that's how it works, ironic tho bc Griselda have actually been around for ages too, they just weren't popping lmao. And if you put those 90's rappers with them on the same track it's not like Griselda will do anything that they're incapable of.

They put out more consistent projects but they also oversaturate the market and become repetitive.

Daringer is okay not too crazy about his beats.

he brings up a good point though, people keep saying they sound like this and that

where are all Roc's cosigns? We know he has a few but not like this

All these old street and grimey rappers still putting projects out all the time but none of them ever get rated well or talked about too much, with a few exceptions im sure. But theres obviously something within Griselda's music that is different, no matter how slight it may be, it is there and it sets them apart from their peers.

It’s not the 90s anymore though. I love that era but them niggas not rapping on the same level nowadays. So yea if they collab with Griselda they might have a good verse but more than likely they’ll just show their age

I’m not one of those people that thinks Griselda is doing anything innovative and frankly I don’t think that’s why niggas check for them. They just got good beats and good rhymes

Not saying they groundbreaking or whatever. Not saying they saving hip hop. Plenty niggas exist in that sub genre. Not saying they make better music than 90s rappers. They just put out solid material. It’s a new day, a lot of those 90s rappers fell off and lost their ear for beats 🤷🏾‍♂️

Roc is more experimental and eclectic, I'll take Reloaded and Marcielago over every Griselda project

To me he's a better artist but I can see why some people would find Griselda more appealing.

fair enough, but at the same time Gunn is also out here in executive meetings pushing for artists like roc and mach and all these other lesser known areas around New York to get more exposure similar to himself and Griselda, which goes along with part of the reason i originally wrote this post in the first place.

And sure, Wu Tang and other groups did come together in the end, but we've never really seen as much unification coast to coast over a group of rappers or an artist like Gunn pushing for all the other artists like him and Griselda to get noticed too. Usually there is always some competition or beef s*** over s*** like that.

In fact, not only do they push for other Street dudes and grimey rappers to get exposure, at Griselda New year, they also supported mumble rappers and soundcloud rappers, saying these old heads and people need to stop hating on these new rappers because they sound different and let them create music and get their money up.

They are solid, no doubt. There are newer dudes like Freddie Gibbs and Danny Brown that I hold in higher regard.. just not super excited about them. But if they drop a super crazy project I'll be more than happy to give them their dues.

Same, he's done a lot for Buffalo already, and that is my point. He is trying to do more for rap than people give him credit for.

Yeah, Griselda has a similar 90s dusty sound, its Boom Bap inspired, and they are grimey, and other artists and groups have done similar things,, but at the same time man, if you take the time to go into interviews and behind the scenes and actually get to know these guys and dig into their music and everything they are about you start to realize there is a lot more to them than what you know just observing from the outside

I would bank that most people who dont even really check them that much dont even know the backstory of Machine Gun Black or that Conway's Bell's Palsy makes his face numb or it physically hurts him to actually rap.
