Might be a bit off topic but it relates to mixing. Feel like some of the "youtube critics" fall for the ear candy effects a lot. Like doubler effects, pitch shifts, stereo echoes and delays etc. Think that's part of the reason why some call his music bland. It's mostly just a straight up in your face vocal track with everything but the drums pushed back in the mix. I like it though. For this to work well the artist can't f*** anything up in his delivery because he's so present every little mistake will shine through. Drake's vocal delivery is superb though, to be so clear in his pronunciation but still sound smooth and not robotic, aand have a great flow is something that's really hard to do.

That's the same type of mixing Lupe's first two albums had although they didn't have that lo-fi vibe, which I think why people find his ear for beats not as good.

I know this is a Drake thread, but everytime Kanye does something different, it ends up being copied and replicated later down the line. Not saying Drake bit Kanye in anyway whatever, but I am saying that Ye's ideas end up being recycled down the line by other big artists.

Like 808's becoming the foundation of Drakes more melancholy style or Travis's autotune usage.

Or MBTDF becoming the catalyst for rappers and singers to pretend they're more artistic and special then they actually are.

Pablo gave artists an excuse to go back and change things if people were b****ing about it.

The last good mixed music from drake I remember was money in the grave, which was done by 40 I think. I thought that sounded nice. Makes sense the demo tapes wouldn’t be the greatest. I trust LP6 will sound amazing

There’s nothing anybody can do but hope they start trying again.

Because another album sounding like Scorpion will hurt people’s enjoyment of the album first listen like it did for so many.

Imagine Scorpion with Views mixing on first listen... I believe the album dose not get panned and hated on as much as it did.

Trust me most people didn’t dislike Scorpion because of mixing people that have an ear for those things maybe but the average listener/fan weren’t thinking about the mix. I actually enjoy the album a lot of you are very pretentious musically and it gets worse when it comes to Drake.
