How? Wayne was literally blowing up a year later

Funny how songs like lollipop and get money didn’t come out until after graduation

I mean it’s not Wayne OR Ye. They simoultaneously both rewrote this s***. Moreso aesthetically and how you do s***

Wayne has not much to do with acts like Cool Kids or Wale the same way Ye don’t really have much to do with a Young Thug or Kodak

Around that time. Wayne deserves more credit.
Ye didn’t really create that type of buzz until that Taylor swift s***, then everything he dropped from 10-12 was making a lot of noise.

Weezy was doing a Milly first week and then almost did it again with C4

Was the biggest rapper in the world at that point head and shoulders

Exactly and no sales vs gimmick was needed nor some vma controversy

I’m not gonna argue with you that Wayne was overall more influential I remember liking Wayne more back then myself lmao.

But Wayne has nothing to do with most of the blog/backpack rap that flourished in the 4-5 years after graduation and Kid Cudi, XV, Charles Hamilton, Cool Kids, Wale, etc type artists. Wayne and Ye were the two main blueprints for the non straight up street rappers like Flocka, YG, etc. type acts popping up

“Backpack” rap is a dumb statement. The actual “backpack” rappers sound nothing like graduation or 808’s
Cudi, Wale, XV etc had there own style which was something of their generation. To give Kanye credit for that is disrespectful to the ones that actually started it

They were all post Kanye backpack rap lol. Mixing the vague idea of the whole appeal being that they don’t really rap about gangster s*** with the completely anti backpack concept of rapping about brands and clothes and clubbing and s*** which Wale, Cool Kids, Cudi all did. Never was really big into XV or Hamilton. More accurate term is blog rap which encompasses way more than this wave but IMO a lot of that stuff is post 06-08 Kanye.

at least these type of threads are still better than the ones about pure celebrity gossip

Braindead celeb gossip is better than op baiting something we all know to be false to a certain extent

Kanye, like the Beatles, is more impressive for balancing the mainstream and Underground than literally any other metric

    Kanye

    Underground

    Choose one

If you truly believe that then you don’t know rap. Not everyone in rap was rapping about brand s*** pre 2007. Y’all suck Kanye too much

“I had a dream I could buy my way to heaven, when I awoke I spent it on a necklace.” Very opposite of that dumb term “backpack” rap
