He isnt and ross is less limited his music is just formulaic
Ross makes good music too, really want a live instrument album.
Push, I never recognized him as a one trick pony even dating back to the clipse days. New listeners find ways to criticize good lyrics. My friends do this with Push, Jay Z, Griselda and any rapper from that cloth.
They’re all Drake stans too lol, maybe my view is slanted
why doesn't a boogie or yung bans? because nobody expects anything more from a c tier "rapper" at best.
Because people have been trying to brand him as one of the greats the second he told on Drake.
Now he’s getting great like criticism and people start to see that he ain’t really there.
I can name plenty of greats that stuck to a formulaic script, though.
2Pac largely wrote about the trials of being a Black American. Jay Z mostly rapped about making money and hustling his way from rags to riches. Biggie was either a smooth player in his love songs or a gangster/kingpin in a lot of his other songs.
Nas had similar subject matter as Pac but from the perspective of being in the streets and seeing it. Eminem either wrote horrorcore tales or spoke about the trials of his life.
There are very few greats who have a wide range of subject matter so it feels dumb to knock one dude for doing it
Pretty sure people say that about Ross too
Not as much
I've seen people criticize 50 for apparently making the same album over, but Ross has literally done that his whole career and some people treat him like a GOAT lol
not talking about coke ( also his mase flow )

Not as much because less people think Rick Ross is a legend or put him in top 5
Push raps about coke but there’s been discussion about the fact he isn’t about what he says he is.
Which is the same for a lot of rappers really.
I think the problem is that he tends to repeat a lot of the same s*** on songs whereas others at least try to mix it up. Or get features who rap about other things.
"The Fact" is nothing more than Drake making claims about Push not really moving weight that has no proof behind it.
Literally nobody else who is a major artist has tried to pull Push's hustler card lol
And again, it's hypocritical for someone like Drake to say that when Birdman, Chris Brown and Wayne didn't turn blood until they were millionaires, Rick Ross was a C.O., Jay Z definitely wasn't hustling to the level he portrays according to people close to him back then, etc.
He's worked with plenty of people who have more questionable authenticity than Push imo.
Like you said it's very common for rappers to exaggerate or embellish for entertainments sake so I don't see how it's only an issue when he raps about coke.

His brother talked about Push’s early life and the guy grew up in a more cozy and rich household than Drake himself lol

its always 'oh but how is it lyrical if they rap about the same thing' and in the same breath talking about 'building the vibe and effectively using repetitiveness in subdued lyricism' when it comes to new school kids lol
