Whenever brought up eras it's a general consensus that 2016-2018 were the worst years for rap the last decade due to the "low quality, low budget music" that came out of that era.
Why is this? Can agree to some extent that lots of music from that era has aged horrendously but, to me: truly streaming era (2019-2020) is way worse than SoundCloud era.
You didn’t think this was being talked about enough here?
Didn't answer my question.
too much mid, once peep died i stopped caring
Would you say that the styles got repetitive?
Who’s hating on 2016?
I mean we were in 2016 but not anymore
Who’s hating on 2016?
Lot of people on this site generally say it was a bad year for rap.

(not mine) I can generally see the repetitiveness of the music however. There isn't lots of diversity in the styles.

yeah it did it was cool to see peep, purpp, $b etc come up but lots they styles had zero substance which now i rarely care for any of them outside of $B now even then idc anymore.
I don't think it's the most hated by people our age, to older people they might hate it
There's a lotta trash dudes that did make it in that period tho, and people may hate them in particular which makes it seem heavily hated

Usually see this for 2017/2018 while 2016 was seen as a good mix of new sounds and big releases
Streaming def changed a lot in rap tho

Agreed with you on that, the music had no substance and does not hold up overtime. However there are some gems in it.
It was a time fanbases became aware of eachother. Most hip hop fans discovered how big X and peep were once they died
Just dust heads and those with literal hate in their hearts had an issue with it smh

I'm about to be 24. Lots of people my age were not "hip" to it. From what I remember.
brokencyde is a stretch. its more like pop punk, we got some gems off that era but also some terrible corny s***
