I think the hype around chat-GPT is a little over blown at the moment. It’s trained on human data. Yes it can interpolate/extrapolate a little bit past it’s training data but a machine learning model is only as good as it’s training data. Until it can “self-learn” there’s no reason reason to expect that training on more data with a larger model will result in a super intelligent AI past what humans are capable of.

AI as folks are referring to today's machine learning language models is not actual AI. it should be referred to as just ML. it's not gonna achieve self awareness, at least not the way it's currently designed

Yeah but whatever’s being automated needs people to design it, program it, build it, etc, so there’s all sorts of new jobs for each machine that will replace something

Developers can’t stop because they can’t let another company or nation get the advantage. It’s obvious AI will be a problem but it is a race to get there first, the end result everyone loses.
